SkullKnight
Yep. I saw that post. I've relayed the question on to Anakin, we'll see if he answers. I can't make the problem happen consistently. Several times now they just stand there. Never happened with 1.03. I think I'll rollback. Can you use a 1.04 save game on a 1.03 install? Why dont you try rolling just the scripting back and see if that works? If it does, then it seems a more elegant solution than just rolling back to 1.03 (some of the fixes in 1.04 are rather needed, especially for awakening). Although if the scripting issue is related to the executable, then we still have a problem. *sigh* I wish they would release a patch that fixes stuff without breaking anything else...And also, silverite mine bugged for me 100% of the time, no way to get that last mob with my stuff to spawn. Kind of a game-breaking bug, dont you think? I ended up going in naked to be safe. Luckily that didnt get into any story screenshots lol. Oh, and about the save game thing. The save does have some module data, so it will retain some information from the 1.04 patch, but I think it will at least load.
Kaerar
There is a quick and dirty solution: I'm currently testing a quick work-around: I'm dropped an extracted v1.03 version of script.ldf into the [install Directory]\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\patch\\ folder. The missing functions have been returned to the function list my scripts still appear to compile okay. Next step is run a few in-game tests. If you are looking for the v1.03 version of script.ldf you can find it in the patch002.erf in the above folder.
usprivateer
Excellent. Let me know how that works. I'm suspicious that my Advanced Tactics stuff isn't firing because of this.

naomis8329
Sad to see that there will be no more expansions for DA:O as I think it would have been good for a Morrigan one to be done. As we know the Warden's story is not finished (according to the epilogues in both DA:O and DA:A) so does that mean that DA 3 or 4 will continue the stories. Really concerned about the patches as the 1.03 screwed up my toolset and character generation just completing a reinstall with help from a community member which will hopefully fix things for me. However, upgrading to 1.04 is bringing me out in a cold sweat in case that does even more damage.

Was it because the devs rolled-back to the previous one deliberately, either because of a fatal problem with 1.03's version, or because there were non-fatal but troublesome issues that could more easily be corrected this way, (even if it meant "breaking" some of the things 1.03 "fixed"?) 2. Was it because someone made a version control error in the code library and no one caught it before release? I'll ask BioWare directly, but won't be holding my breath for a response! ;D I may be tempted to do some testing myself, after I get done evaluating my most recent un-/re-install. Went back to plain vanilla DA:O, added DA:A, then 1.04, then all "official" DLC. Will continue with my current playtthrough (I'm about half-way now. Have killed Isolde to free Conner, (hate her!) saved the Circle, and romanced everyone. :P ) Meanwhile, would love to hear the results of testing the 1.03 script.ldf file under 1.04 by those posting on this topic! Kaerar
Already been answered as to why the wrong script.IDF got inserted into the patch. It was due to a slight bug in their internal toolset that allowed old files of certain types to bypass the checks against older versions. Script.IDF just happened to be one. Quick workaround is to extract the "script.idf" from the 1.03 Patch's "patch002.erf" from "[C:\Program Files\]Dragon Age\packages\core\patch\" directory (the install path may differ if you installed to a different location) and place that file into the same directory as the patch003.erf (same location as above). That allows the extended scripting options to work again :) Thanks to Sunjammer from the Bioware Social Network for picking this one up. Just to confirm I have installed the 1.04 patch now and have no issues so far after doing Sunjammer's fix ;)

Is, or is not BioWare a professional software development company? "Slight Bug" my ass! Being an IT professional myself, I can categorically state that this kind of mistake is a firing offense. Where I work, someone would literally be standing outside the building with their personal effects in a cardboard box beside them within about two hours of something like this coming to light. There is no, I repeat ZERO excuse for this kind of error by a reputable software publisher. Rock-solid, bulletproof version control is an essential, not a "nice to have" component of quality assurance. That this could have happened DOES explain something else, however. It explains how 1.03 could have been so plagued with problems. BioWare obviously has amateur, not professional-grade QA. Unless someone can show me that this is all a false rumor, I am truly disgusted, and professionally embarrassed. (And here I'd been defending their practices against what I had thought were unwarranted attacks on the apparent lack of urgency about getting the fixes out. Boy, I feel stupid. :wallbash: )
usprivateer
Okay. Not a tech guy. Can someone tell me if the script issue can or does impact a mod like Anakin's Advanced Tactics? I noticed that my npc party was no longer as effective as they were. Tactics would fail to fire and they would run to the pc instead of immediately carrying out tactics and attacking. I noticed this not long after installing 1.04. Secondly. "extract the file from the .erf? Whut? Can someone give directions for that or post the old 1.03 scripts file? Can someone give directions for that or post the old 1.03 scripts file?Answering your questions in order: 1. Yes (based on your description, it could. I don't know that particular mod.) 2. The "patchxxx.erf" is the "container" file of the changes, which is itself inside the self-extracting executable that is the patch file. If you have the appropriate tools, you can obtain the one in question ("scripts.ldf") directly, but most of us don't have those and will need another way to get it. Myself, I'm rolling back to the original install, then patching to 1.03, (automatic, when installing Awakening) copying the .ldf, then patching to 1.04, and finally replacing the resulting .ldf with the one from 1.03 (only after verifying that the 1.04 version is, in fact, an earlier version, of course.) 3. Interjection ignored. 4. For the first part; see answer 2, above. For the second; not without violating copyright restrictions. BioWare would have to do that themselves.
