Burnagirl
Hi there, Quite I often I notice that Modders make movies of their new armor, characters, new weapons etc.I'd also like to make movies or clips of my Fallout 3 character for myself, how do I do this ?What program do I need ?I'm using Windows 7 if that helps. Any help or advice will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
Paxan_1
Hi Burnagirl, the best video recording software i think is Fraps. You can record ingame with it in divx h264. With the free version of it you are restricted to 30s recording. It is easy to use by pressing a button ingame to start the record. Paxan

Paxan_1
Your welcome, here one of the videos i have recorded, as an example: It is recorded in 1280x1024 with DivX, so if you want to cut scene you can use VirtualDub. The rest is done by Youtube. But mind, Youtube is recalculating the video, so if you choose a low compression rate the quality wont be good after Youtube is ready. For HD ready videos i take 2500kBit/s.
Burnagirl
Thanks for telling me about the program I purchased the single user liscence - it records in increments of 3 minutes clips - am I not doing it right or is that just the way it's supposed to be ? I just have a few questions - sorry I'm a noob at this. 1) What is - Monitor Aero desktop (DWM) ? ....... this is found on the - General - tab. 2) What is the - Overlay - all about ? ..................this is found on the 99 FPS tab. I'm having a ton of fun and it's eating my Drive space but nevermind it's great.Your video is really great, I love the Catsuit, but more especially I love your characters face and hair - what Mods are they ?Wow, they look so good. The clips thing is annoying, I don't know why it does that. You can join them easy enough using Virtualdub. Start Virtualdub.Open your first clip.Move the slider right to the end. Then go to file> Append AVI segment and select your second clip.Do that with all the clips remembering to move the slider to the end each time. When your done adding clips select Direct stream copy under video, do the same under audio. Then under file select save AVI and give it a name. Thanks so much jim_uk, that answers those two questions ... I understand that just perfectly. And thanks for the - Virtual dub - link, and all of the incredibly easy to understand instructions concerning it's operation. The help that I've received from both you and Paxan is just fantastic ... and it deserves kudos for both of you. cheers.
JimboUK
No problem, Just a word of warning, Virtualdub creates a new file so you will end up with the huge clips and a huge movie, make sure you have plenty of space.

Do like Jim told you, don't know why it is recording only 3mins..., i think i have longer records here. Maybe you are limited to 2GB files because you are using Fat32 as filesystem? The video is taken from Fallout 3 with some mods. The suit is Asharas Batman and Catwoman mod - Type3 you can find it here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10334 The hair is also from Ashara just check her mod files. The char is the only one i'm using, designed after myself :whistling: I've done the video to show how the suit works with Jessi. She normaly tends to run straight into a fight and you can't sneak. With this suit she is a little more handy with that. There are some more clips i've done with fraps, have a look at them at Jessies video taphttp://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2732 I love it to sneak around with her :woot: Thanks for the kudo :)
JimboUK
I think it breaks them up at just under 4GB for some reason, I'm using NTFS so that's not the issue. I only get just over 2 mins @1920x1200, it's really annoying.
