zprospero
One of the things that you don't see in Tamriel is the theater. Of course, when you can conjure up demons and the dead, well, you can probably keep yourself amused. But surely, every now and again, it'd be fun to go watch some other people do some stuff for once. So, I built a very simple, very dark, theater for scripted out plays to take place. It's based on the Arena meshes, but it's always dark here. You can ask the porter for food and drink, which is complementary, and then take a seat and watch the show. http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/zprospero/TheTheater.jpg Anyone think this is a good idea? I was thinking of scripting out a performance of 'The Horrors of Castle Xyr.'

krimzin
I actually really like this idea. Lol Imagining a huge pile of bodies after the performance of "Julius Caesar" or "MacBeth" really any of Shakespeare's tragedies. No survivors in those plays... zprospero
Yes, I thought, in particular, of Macbeth. Shakespeare isn't for everyone though. As for voices, the real trouble is finding voice actresses, I can do most of the male voices and keep them sounding different enough, but I can't pull off a female voice. But what worries me most is I don't know how convincing a play can be with the basic character animations from the vanilla game. @Calliton Thank you, but I'd like to prove the concept before anyone writes something custom. ub3rman123
You could probably design it like the Globe Theater using the Arena models. Pull off the balconies, add in a spot for the people who wander the ground, and add a raised rectangular stage and back building.
Xeivous
Maybe some quests to join the theater, based off personality, speech-craft, and mercantile skills.
zeralesaar
You could also add some appropriate charges for seating/floor space at a scripted door. Make it so that if the player is bereft of coin, he or she must stand amidst the peasantry. Anyway, I think a traveling theater was tried once...it didn't work well due to the great complexity of the whole "moving it from town to town" bit (no wagons...). A static theatre in one of the major cities, however, would probably work rather well. The only problem I could see is the great deal of dialogue/scripting necessary to execute a play. You would probably need (or at least want, to suppress clutter) a new set of actor NPCs for each play, as well as a very good ability to tell NPCs where to go. After all, it wouldn't do if your lead actor randomly walked off the stage when meant to deliver a significant line. In realistic terms, Shakespeare would be an incredible workload, but probably executable with a good deal of effort. If you're just looking for a proof-of-concept, you may want to just take a few brief lines and some very basic stage directions, try to implement them, then work from there. kieranfoy
Rotten vegetables. If i'm to be a groundling, I wanna throw stuff when there's not enough dirty jokes. Of course, with Shakespeare, the dude who invented the word 'obscene,' it's not likely to be a problem.
Xeivous
You could dump the place at that old burn down "All things alchemical" not much use of a place, not really an easter egg... Think that there's enough room... I don't know of any mods that mess with the area... edit: Also, parodying some of monty-pythons stuff could be fun... hehe and now for something completely different!*explodes*
