VileTouch
Halo! Terible quality, yet overhyped and somehow outselling the few truly good FPS left. Please, just let this franchise die, its over bungie, aceept it. Yes! ...Halo! *shivers* I always wondered why it was so popular, even though it was so bland, so....how to say?... "lacking in creativity". furthermore, i think it was not even on-par with the other (non xbox) FPS of its time. yet it manages to set a stapple, and gather this huge mass of worshipers.so yeah... i'll give them the credit they deserve. it IS the best game for XBox. (which does'nt mean it's the best game of it's kind - for Xbox is just a small fraction of the console market) and claiming that they are the best on their own console does'nt sound right to me either... because they could have easily blocked the competition by not allowing other quality FPS games to take away their self imposed title.. ok, right... so not many games can boast of having not one but four novels "inspired by them" (usually it's the other way around) problem is those are just gimmics, paid advertising, so they end up being at the same level of value as an action figurine of master chief...again.... lack of inspiration, just more marketing fodder written in a hurry (7 weeks if not mistaken) to meet Microsoft release dates.so yes, they can argue they have a huge fanbase...but that is just a result of a well planned -millionaire- marketing campaign(and that's what they are really good at. just look at any microsoft release, they're always full of hype regardless of the real quality of the product they're offering) but enough!... i'm tired of bashing halo and microsoft... Empire Earth! that last one, EE3, was so miserably bad, so racist, so obcenely badly made, and so full of glitches I actualy threw it out my window. Please, mercy, the first one was lousy, the second was worse, the third still leaves me traumatised, please, I beg you, no more! i'm just going to let gamespy speak for me:Unfortunately, Empire Earth III has little to offer strategy fans of any disposition. Some of the hallmarks of the series have been stripped away in an effort to simplify the game. And while there are a couple of clever design elements here, they're buried under extremely poor implementation. The clumsy AI and muddled combat really drag down what might have been an enjoyable title, and feels like an unpolished product pushed out the door. You can salvage some good times out of the online skirmishes, but Empire Earth III doesn't really compete with the likes of Age of Empires III or other modern RTS titles. Command N Conquer: Its had a grand long history, but its not of this generation now, let it rest in peace. EA would honor this great series more by letting it remain as an icon of history, and a past legend, than by tarnishing its memory by churning out scrap with CNC scrawled on it. well, you actually said everything there was to be said about it.... i actually would have prefered to remember it as it was... one of my favorite games, one that i spent countless hours playing... but no... they had to release another half baked remake (just like generals)...starting to see a pattern already? VileTouch
umm, pokemon? :pinch:UUUUGHHHH!!!! you had to mention that one!! :wallbash: http://pedrophablo.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/harakiri.jpg how many pokemon games does the world need? sure, that was the only reason GB/GBA yielded so much profit despite being some outdated trinkets (at the time of first release [2001] there was the technology available to create a much more complex device, but they decided to go cheap [and i have a lot to say about it, but i think this is not the thread for that]) So, they needed a game that was simple, relying only on little more than a moderately sized database.and it was good!, i mean, it was adjusted to the cheap hardware that it was running on. what really had me baffled is that even when they ported the game to a more robust platform (N64. SNES does'nt count as it was already out of production) they decided to keep the same simplistic GBA schema and only use that extra power to improve the visuals!.. and even to this day and age, they keep using that same formula to keep releasing title after title after title with clearly no intent to make a change. (but why would they? -you ask- if they can keep selling the same idea from 1998 without investing in quality[remember, they made their fortune with a cheap trinket]then why bother?) for the record there are currently 23 pokemon games*, with 493 pokemon in the list. and soon to be extended to a grand total of over 600 next year....problem is, we already know it's just going to be more of the same. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------* If you can't believe there are so many, I googled their names for your torturing pleasure  Red, Blue, yellow, gold, silver, crystal, ruby, saphire, Colluseum, firered, leafgreen, emerald, XD, diamond, pearl, platinum, trozei, ranger, ranger shadows of almia, pinball, pinball 2, with black and white soon to be released. -these are only the video games, there are several others, including trading cards and board games so the number of games related to pokemon might be well over 25----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- so you thought Final Fantasy had too many sequels? think again!... gotta catch 'em all! VileTouch
Gotta catch them all! Has anyone caught all Pokimon? Yes, i think many have done that... i am not really sure wether pokemon games tend to attract...umm... "weak minded people prone to obsessive-compulsive disorders" or is it that playing these games actually turn normal, otherwise bright and zealous youngsters into retarded, single-minded "pokemaniacs"...ever heard the term "poketard"? so yes. someone with that profile, would not stop at anything until their pokedex is complete. ...don't get me wrong, looking at my last posts, one might think that i hate anything and everything. the fact is that i just like to speak my guts out.
brokenergy
Poketard? Sounds like the YuGiYo-kids from my school. I really hated those kids, they constantly fight and block the pathways.
Vindekarr
Dead Or Alive. Well actualy I'd rather just dead to be honest. As a passionate feminist this game makes my blood boil. Being of highland scottish decent thats a dangerous thing. I could rant and rave for hours on end about why this despicable game should burn in hell with its creators, but in short its a game entirely based around pornography, sexism, and general hatred and opression of women simply because of their gender. Progress ocurs by making them wear progressively less. That sort of says it all really. But the real reason I hate it is its simply too hard hitting a reminder of how pathetic the human race is, because it sells like wildfire. Every obsessed teenager seems to have bought it. In america you may have poketards, but here its pornotards. Kiddies obsessed with unlocking that one millimetre lower cut KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ bandeau. Without actualy ever realising how boring and dare I say ugly female genitalia actualy can be.
krimzin
Basically any FPS released around the Halo series to profit from the FPS craze. Totally killed any desire for me to buy an FPS game.If you're going to make an FPS, make it have SOME kind of story or uniqueness to it. Doom was nice, maybe a release with updated graphics?FPS and scary go very good together [except FEAR which was not scary whatsoever]The story of "You're a soldier, your country is at war" is not a story.Being able to choose between first and third person is almost a reason to buy a game.Vehicles are fun, use more of themCarrying 2 weapons and grenades IS realistic, but can get boring. Carrying 400+ guns kills you when you try to find a particular gun. find a happy medium.Having a team and sneaking is impossible. decide if you want stealth gameplay or team gameplay, both will not workCharacter Customization: even if it's FPS, you still need it. Sometimes it's more fun than the entire game.Someone needs to be able to kill snipers besides other snipers
Vindekarr
Heheheh. Ehh, Last good fps I played was aliens vs predator this year, and damn it was fun. But it was odd, quirky, and unusual. for one thing, instead of making everyone identicle in every way shape and form to try and make it "balanced" you instead are either a speedy, fragile, stealthy Alien, a tough, heavily armed melee ass kicking Predator, or some hapless marine with a plasma rifle, soon to be killed by one of the aforementioned groups. But god it was fun online, you never got tired of slinking along a wall or ceiling(yes ceiling) in first person view as an Alien xenomorph drone, dropping down on your enemies and literaly ripping them limb from limb, or stealthing up on a cocky little 12 year old playing as a marine as a Predator, and literaly ripping his head and spine clean out of his body. Crass. Brutal. Gory. Messy. Horrible. Awesome. Fun. Fun. Fun.
Thor.
Actualy they're alreayd working on a new COD, but its not MW3. Firstly activision lost a lot of the people responsible for MW1/2 to EA, sacking almost every senior designer, and then giving the franchise' future to treyarch. Treyarch has something less mainstream planned for cod 7. Black Ops, I dont know exactly what year its set in, but I think its safe to assume 1980s. its the cold war, you're probably going to be a marine. Unexplained slaughter russians and ethnic minorities is all but a certainty, but the rest of the game looks like being a bit diferent. The preview I saw showed of all things, a helicopter, an animal burrow, what appeared to be a jungle savage, and a lot of very old fashioned mid 70's hardware. No doubt it will be more similar to MW than it is original, but they arent just making a clone this time, and for me, its the thought that counts. They graphics shown were also a new engine, with radicaly diferent particle effects, and even more diferent shaders. If anything I'd expect something a bit more like Far Cry 2 in looks, probably set just a bit after the war in Vietnam. But best of all, Treyarch is looking to be as much commited to storyline as anything else, so maybe, just maybe, we'll see some coherent plot this time too. The series I really want to see die however is neverwinter nights/dragon age. I really dislike bioware, and after recently wasting three hours on a demo of the miserable DA, I'd really like to see the corp close. I honestly cant understand why their games are so popular, except that fans play one game, like it, and buy bioware's sequals to that rather than games from other manufacturers in the same genre. Dislike me for saying that if you want, but I find it very hard to like such a cynical, money crazed corporation, let alone one with such a lacking imagination. And if starwars crashed and burned, I'd honestly throw a party. Im a science fiction author by background, and I've written shopping lists deeper and more captivating than that mess. I think they should have kept to three movies, the prequals were bad beyond bad, and the recent games have been even worse if thats possible. Anyone who's played battlefront 1, obi-wan, or the jedi knight series would surely understand why. Finaly, mario. Another one every year, identicle to the previous, but a horde of people run out and buy it in the millions, and I have no idea why save that humans on the whole are really rather stupid. After so long, and having gone so far from what it started out as, mario is just a farce to fund nintendo, nothing more. Yea agree with you there. Metal gear doesn't need a sequel, i mean with old snake and everything, They really don't need one. Especially after peace walker.
