Kimberlee
I get a 'file does not exist' On a blank white page. Nothing else on it at all... I have done or tried or changed everything that was suggested and nothing yet. Just thought I would post this as I cannot access any of the mods. This is of course on the IP test page as per the link that was provided. Edited September 20, 2011 by Kimberlee
Kimberlee
Its been a few days and after the previous members reported they are now working, noone has responded to my problem so I thought I would make an effort to ask again. Previously there was some effort to fix the other member's problems and they reported it working. I, on the other hand am still not able to access any of the Fallout Nexus sites. Any help would be great. I have used IE and Firefox to access, even changed my password and nothing is working. Like I previously posted the IPTest site comes up an error. Thank you in advance... bben46
every case like this that I have seen has been the result of some setting on your browser that prevents the site from being functional. most revolve around cookies. Your browser must be able to allow cookies to be set by the nexus site. other problems have been caused by some antivirus programs or firewall settings blocking the nexus content. And still others by 3rd party programs such as ad blocking programs that have been added to your browser. One troubleshooting technique that has helped many is the use of a portable completely bare version of a browser. these are not installed and can work from a USB stick Try the suggestions in the spoiler below for some portable browsers to use for testing. You could try a portable version of the browser - It doesn't need to be installed at all. and can work from a USB stick. If it works with the portable version, and not your installed version of the same browser then the problem is likely some add on or setting on your end. While we cannot fix your end, we can give some advice as to what you can do to fix it. To give advice, we need as much information on your browser and settings as you can give us. To find the portable version of your preferred browser, (If it is not shown ) google it. Here is a site that has several: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?sc=8 NOTE: IE7 is NOT supported, and will not be in the future as it is obsolete. Here are LHammonds test results for the New Nexus sites using a variety of portable browsers Quote Firefox is the Nexus-recommended browser (so says me). I initially could not get content loaded when going tab to tab such as the Files tab, images tab, etc. but I realized NoScript was blocking it so once I allowed all scripts to run, it worked fine after that. Dark0ne tries to make the site work well with Firefox and Internet Explorer...anything beyond that is just icing on the cake. I have tested the following browsers: Firefox Portable 6.0 http://portableapps....irefox_portable Google Chrome Portable 13.0.782.112 http://portableapps....chrome_portable Iron Portable 13.0.800 (based on Google Chromium) http://portableapps....t/iron_portable Opera Portable 11.50 http://portableapps..../opera_portable Maxthon Portable 3.1.5.1000 http://portableapps....axthon_portable Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 NOTE: The above "portable" browsers can be used by anyone. They do not require "installation" so there is zero impact on your computer...simply extract them, run the program to test it out, then delete once done. All tests were performed with the software as configured straight "out-of-the-box" without any tweaks or changes. Check List Tests: Can login and remain logged in from page to page (while browsing and downloading) Can see mod page description, files, comments and images. Can download mods over 2MB in size. Can create mod page (modder action) Can set and remove search tags. Can upload files to mod page (modder action). Can upload images to mod page. Can add comments on mod page. Can upload images to imageshare (modder action). Can add comments on imageshare. Test results / notes for Google Chrome: Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Side note: Holy-moly Batman! The staff "delete file" option is an instant delete link that asks for no verification. Scary indeed. Please add a confirmation for deletion since it is very possible we might be thinking "delete file" as in an individual file...not "delete mod page and all content" Test results / notes for Firefox Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Test results / notes for Opera Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Test results / notes for Maxthon Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Test results / notes for Iron Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Test results / notes for Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Success Based on the above test results, all major site functions I have tested have been addressed and fixed by Dark0ne. Kimberlee
Thank you very much for your reply bben46. I wish I could have logged on SECONDS sooner so I could of saved you the time. Unbelieveably, the reason for the error was my date on my computer. I noriced it was a month ahead for some STRANGE reason and changing it and rebooting was enough to fix it. :teehee: Appreciate the effort to help. Anyone else running into this problem in the future should rule that out as their first step... Now to figure out why this even happened in the first place. Keirgarth
Random date changes on older PC's was due to the battery for the CMOS starting to fail. This may or may not be the case for you depending on how your motherboard is setup. Another possibility is that something caused a reset of your BIOS, in which case finding out what caused this should be high on your priority list as it could cause other issues down the road. bben46
We have gotten some reports of some ISPs blocking certain sites for some unknown reason and possibly affecting TheNexus sites. - Yes, that is pretty vague, but so are the reports we are seeing - mostly second or third hand, the type that say my friend, or my brother can't access the Nexus. Other possibilities of this sort are: Hosts files filters downloaded from some siteAdware blocking filter subscriptions - Adblock and other similar programs allow 3rd party subscriptionsRouter firewalls or filters set to block some sites (usually blocking known ad sites)And overzealous antivirus filters (these usually tell you when they block something) Smut filters implemented to block porn. - Some of these can be very strict. (But... It's for the children!) I would expect this type of blocking by schools, libraries and possibly internet cafes or public terminals. (some countries do this) However, some parents can do this also by subscribing to a service. If you know of any of this type of blocking activity please let us know.
