deathbymanga
I know there are plenty of mods that use Dwemer assets to create really unique and interesting dungeons and using the style to create new things, but has anyone really tried to go back in time and recreate what the dwemer were like? How were they so different? Imagine a mod that involves an abandoned Dwemer ruin suddenly starting up again, with news of Falmer fleeing from it and perishing in the sunlight. So you go down to investigate, only to find the ghosts of dead Dwemers walking around, unaware of the time that has past. The culture is still intact, and the focus of the mod is not on elaborate dungeon designs or new art assets, but using what has already existed to add some flavour and personality to this dead race
Morgwynn
The Dwemer might not be dead, I was doing some lore reading and it says they simply vanished. No bodies, no sign of struggle, just gone in an instant. Also speculation suggests that they might have preserved their souls within soul gems that power their machines after all why do the machines drop soul gems when you kill them. Some people believe that the crystal that is the heart of the Dwemer Gyro's might contain the knowledge of the Dwemer and possibly even a sentient Dwemer soul. The crystal at the heart of the Dwemer Gyro's could function like a mini soul cairn that contains one Dwemer soul that can tell the machines how to repair and maintain the Dwemer ruins for as long as they function or until their creators find a way to return. http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/Morgwynn/DwemerCenturion_zps8403f6c7.jpg A Dwemer installing a Dwemer Centurian Core into it's new body. http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/Morgwynn/Zenturio-Dynamokern_zpse7b91ae8.png The Crystal at the heart of the Dwemer Centurian Gyro, a possible soul gem. deathbymanga
hmm, this would seem like a really good plot either way, the return of the Dwemer, whether its the ghosts or the actual living Dwemer that return, it would be a lot of fun to try and do
reyzark
not 100% lore friendly but is an interesting mod http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56037/? if you want to try.
faffman
Beat me to it, reyzark. I played that on my latest character, and it was the BOMB! Really, that Enai Siaion.
deathbymanga
I don't know, i'm more interested in the idea of exploring the dwemer from more lore-centered and culture-focused story.
Dudeman325
Dwemer are the skin of Numidium. They aren't trapped in soul gems in their automatons (which don't all carry soul gems, and are sometimes carrying unpowered soul gems, which shows that they aren't necessary for an automaton to function). The only way the Dwemer will come "back" is by being part of the Numidium when he goes somewhere or does something.
deathbymanga
I don't see anything about Numidium being made using the flesh of dwemer, the wiki just says that they were used to fight dwemer
Dudeman325
Here's an interesting discussion on the nature of Numidium's "skin" (it isn't flesh). A number of MK works over at the Imperial Library as well as c0da contain some very important information about the nature of Numidium and its relation to the non-existance of the Dwemer. deathbymanga
the reddit thread was a good read and definitely something i'd like to make a mod about. Can Numidium think? can they feel emotion? The coda bit was hard to read but the imperial library had a nice bit about how tiber septim once used the numidium to rule
