How active is the Oblivion modding community?

Hey Guys!

I've recently re-installed Oblivion and downloaded all my favorite mods (eshme i love you!) which got me thinking, how active is the Oblivion modding community?

 

I've made a few weapons and armor pieces myself in the past and had a blast doing so, and if the community is alive and kicking I'd love to help with a project somewhere.

Well, most people on the modding community nowadays only posts female mods, requiring HGEC or somethin else. But you have slof, who I thank 24/7 for making male mods but that requires Roberts full male body. But if you dont want armor or clothes you can always go into other categories. And those categories are sadly dieing off so most likely Its still alive but stuck in one place. But other then that yeah its alive and well.

Yea, that is a shame.

 

I started a mod a few years ago for an Assassins guild which would give out quests which were assassin jobs, working the AI to ensure that your kill isn't detected by any other NPC's etc, new skills etc - was hoping to get into something like this again.

I beg to differ. I have been a mod consumer since the game was released. Except for a few pauses in which i didn't play oblivion, every time i checked there was a whole variety of new mods to choose from, armor or otherwise. Part of the old crew has left but for every one of them that leaves there are at least 5 other capable modders out there doing something.

I also find the oblivion mod community to be happily active with lots of new or improved mods to choose from. Heck, Elsweyr Anequina is only a year old.:biggrin:

I'll disagree with that one. Hardly any of the armor mods out there are like that (Yes, I don't have the adult filter on), it's just your perception. Most of them just aren't popular. Meantime, if you include all the categories, the HGEC-female type things only make up a very small percentage of the mods out there. I make some pretty good dungeons, so there's at least one non-female armor mod out there.

There are definitely loads of other mods besides the ones that are HGEC or Roberts based out there and keep rolling in. For example Return of Shadows is a quest/guild/faction mod that is large and expansive with a lot of new spell effects courtesy of some amazing scripting work with OBSE and also lots of new items including some pretty amazing armor sets compatible with Vanilla body sets. This mod was just recently updated too and the team is working on the second chapter. There's also house mods house mods house mods every day i check the nexus theres 30 new taste specific house mods from the last time and 2 or 3 extremely high-quality more generalized ones. I've seen plenty of "overhaul" mods as well that have been updated for instnace ImpeREAL which although they're project goals have been primarily realized and are less active as such were still big in making the Imperial city come alive as well as other localities. The modding community is thriving you just have to turn some stones and roll some logs to find the big project teams working on the next masterpiece. The only area we're hurting in in terms of mod numbers (although it's kind of a given considering the work involved) is the faction/guild section so definitely develop that assassin guild idea.

The community is alive and well I'd say. In a few weeks I and a couple other people are going to release a mod that makes available the "rest" of the Amber and Madness weapons - Amber claymore, Madness dagger, etc. And a few other surprises :)

 

And if you watch TESNexus you'll see there's still a lot of new mods posted every day. I posted a brand new one just 2 weeks ago that has nothing to do with female body mods.
