glowplug
To whom it may concern, Having worked with a variety of unix based systems since the early/mid 90s I am quite strong in appreciation of the contribution that Mozilla has presented. It is akin to the effort that has provided us with free products such as Blender and GIMP. I have tried to manifest my appreciation as best I can with what is available from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=glowplug&cat=2%2C0&lver=any&pid=1&sort=&pp=20&lup=&advanced= I have found this site to black out posts on gecko based browsers on a number of platforms which may be due to errors as demonstrated by http://validator.w3.org/check - maybe in due of the "Strict" declaration. I for one would greatly appreciate rectification of the blackout issue as I have little trust of use of Internet Explorer due to too many adverse experiences over the years! Yours thankfully, Gregory John BroadbentAKA Glowplug
LHammonds
I can probably help Dark0ne with the necessary code changes to make the site conform to the intended HTML 1.0 Strict standard that it seems to desire. Thanks for pointing it out. glowplug
Thanks for the quick response. Sorry for rattling on instead of coming straight to the point.I was irritable having fixed IE related issues at 3 houses in my street.
LHammonds
ya, I had to re-read it twice to see what point you were making. ;) I've started a list of current HTML and suggested changes for Dark0ne when he gets a chance to look at it. Some of the changes will be experimental because of IE problems. It is almost impossible to create a highly functional site without having to code around stupid IE problems. Example: IFRAME is not included in the XHTML strict standard so you need to use OBJECT and pull in the page using the DATA element...but IE does not want to play so you have to butcher it by including embedded comments that say "If IE" to pull in the old IFRAME code. Excuse me, I'm tasting something unpleasant in my mouth right now. hehehe. LHammonds
glowplug
Thanks once again. I've been moving away from web development for quite some time and thought those problems would have been sorted out by now.It is working fine on IE so I wouldn't blame you if you left it alone. I'm sure you and Dark0ne have got better things to do. Greg
LHammonds
It's been a while since I was a manager of web development but I twinge when I see HTML errors that don't need to be there. :D I used to always include Section 508 and WCAG coding standards as well but that might be a bit extreme for this site. :ninja:
