How do I make programs sound in compatibility mode?

OK, so I had to install some Resolution expander for Starcraft, because resolution that low hurts my eyes. After a while, windows encounter an error, which says Res.exe has stopped responding, if you close it the game goes with it. I decided to put it into compatibility mode. It works perfect, no errors etc. But no sound.

 

So, how exactly can I activate sound there while it's in compatibility mode? Or, how can I make programs still make sound while they are minimized to tray? Because the mod sort of minimizes the original game to tray, and if I try to go on it, it gives full black screen, but there's sound.
