Do Mods Eat Computer Resources?

This is from expriences. I have 48 mods but not all are currently running, and these are the changes from moddless to present day:

1. Load time has increased noticeably (not to the point of some horror stories i've heard, thank goodness)

2. Blackwood boots have dissappeared (probably a mod conflict).

3. Spell FX stay almost static when casting and ditto with with indoor fires (very annoying).

4. Some doors stutter dramatically when opening.

I'm sure some of the enviroment tweaks will tax your system but i kinda stay away form those like busy highway or nightlife (cool mods but i'm worried about it causing lag.). If walking around Bravil gets choppy for you then any mod that adds more characters/FX/scripts will make it worse. Can someone please correct me if i'm wrong about this statement.

Kupuna, I'm sorry i can give you a definate answer because i myself have the same questions. but i hope this helps and i also hope we get a solid reply

If your PC is on the edge, I would suggest not adding any visual improvement mods (such as Natural Environments, better grass textures, better water etc). Also anything that adds a lot of quests would add to the load on your processor, I think. Those gameplay tweak mods might cause a bit of a load as well, but I haven't tried them so I'm not sure.

Mods that add small things such as custom armour on a vendor NPC shouldn't be too taxing. As ever, loading too many mods at the same time is never a good idea as conflicts (and lag) will probably happen.
