Trastamad03
Im just wondering if theres any mod that will dramatically increase my games performance from 15fps to maybe minimum 25... if it possible on my pooty PC... The game isnt supposed to run on my PC, after tweaking my pc and the game a bit, i managed to get it running with pretty graphs, and lowest i get is 10 fps.... My PC's specs are: 1.8 GHZ intel Pentium 41024mb DDR ram 266mhz9600xt 128 AGP 4x (with catalyst 6.5)Audigy 1 5.1 surround sound im not complaining that im always on 10fps, i get 40s, 50s, aswell, not when theres a bunch of ppl like towns, or the MYthic Dawn caverne when you start killing everyone there and they start running eerywhere, it sometimes gets laggy..... So if anyone knows anything that can boost my performance, id appreciate it! PS: i already used Oldblivion...
sleaaels
The only thing i can say (I'm sure you have done this already) is lower your settings, I think most mods out there will tax your performance if any at all. I have heard of a mod that replaces the textures with a look alike 3D skin, but i doubt that will give you the extra boost your wanting. Have you tried overclocking (just be careful). cactoblasta
Turn off grass. It really doesn't add much and it speeds up the game a lot. You can also turn off self-shadowing or reduce texture size, although that will be noticable. Lowering the view distance will help - around halfway on the slider allows my 9600 pro to maintain a decent frame rate.
jzbaker
Lower your resolution and graphics detail to the lowest, it looks really really mean sh*t, great for a laugh. You also get nice fps. I think Oblivion should have been made to look more realistic, rather than so brightly coloured and overdone ...
KeepSmilin
I run 9800XT and for some odd reason, I go faster on 1028X980 than on lower settings. However, I did notice incredible drop in framerate as soon as I see 3 people or more in the same screen, even if they aren't visible yet (ie hidden behind a wall). Povuholo
This pinned thread (which I made ;D ) has a few links to optimising articles. It includes mods, in game tweaks, oblivion.ini tweaks and some other things. If you want to optimise, those are the pages you are looking for. Or you could take this guide. It has some things that aren't in the other articles. But it doesn't have a long list of nice mods. So you should just check both ;)
OmegaForte
1.8 GHZ intel Pentium 41024mb DDR ram 266mhz9600xt 128 AGP 4x (with catalyst 6.5)Audigy 1 5.1 surround sound Well, If it's running now, I can tell you how to boost it. Get a new motherboard with an 8X port. You'd be suprized at how much 528Mhz means when you're playing a game. Also, It's time to get out of the P4. AMD's the way to go. I can build a computer that'll play oblivion for about 290 if you have a case and power supply.
Glynnsj
Oblivion performance issues are not a totaly hardware matter. The program itself has poor coding and is very buggy. This become apparent when ametuars achived a large performance boost within a few days from the realese. Such things done were the improvement of those blurry hills and new interface mods. Build a worthy system with 290? I would love to know how you intend to do this. Alsno after attempting the game on a crossfire beast over a more standard rig it became apparent that raw power is not the answer, and hence the bad coding issue. This would not be the first game with susch a problem. Still if you can do it I am very interested to see how. The reference to AMD being the way to go. Is not quite that clear cut both cheapsets have advantages in different areas. By far the P4 is more up to high stress tasks but AMD offers better value, and lower wattage and hence more suitable to a budjet. Pentium are due to release there new chip which will no doubt add more torque to the green and blue tug of war. With its release AMD orices are sure to plument so hang on a little longer to get that discount on a AM2 dual core.
