  1. I'm pretty sure the guild has been around for a while - at least since Oblivion has been released. I remember reading about them on the official forums. They're probably worth a look if you want voice acting.
  2. I've played no. 8 and it was okay. I didn't really get into it though. I actually preferred no. 2 or even no. 10. The gameplay was more interesting and I hated the faux-realtime fighting system of no. 8.
  3. Yeah I've heard that about the Killers. The techno remix of Mr Brightside gets the crowd going though - I went to an outdoors dance party near Merapi in Indonesia and the entire crowd of around 2000 people just went off. They're definitely a band to be listened to either on-album or remixed. They've got a really energetic set so they should be good value even if you're not a huge fan of their music. If you can make it they're definitely worth a try at least. Franz Ferdinand are good live as well, although I'm surprised they're headlining. I thought they were only really big in Oz. If you don't like the album you probably won't like their live set. They were off their tits when they played the BDO so weren't that exciting. I was there for the music so I was happy, but your results may vary.
  4. You should definitely try and see The Subways at Reading. I saw them at the Big Day Out in Sydney this year and they were awesome. And if you like faux-70s rock Wolfmother are good fun and real crowdpleasers. I saw them at Sydney as well.
  5. Gotye's album 'Like Drawing Blood'. It's got plenty of funk - tracks like 'The Only Way' and 'Learnalilgivinanlovin' are great - and a good side order of soul. The vocals on 'Heart's a Mess' are particularly soulful, maybe even emo if you ignore the humming funk beat. Oh, and I went to see TV Rock do their stuff last Friday. Finally, some dirty electro house playing in my town! Come on and flaunt it, huh, what yo mama gave you...
  6. It's a great game, but the online community is small outside of the US so there's a fair bit of waiting around if you want to play a 2x2 automatch or something like that. Don't even think about playing 3x3 autos unless you've already lined up the people. I've heard rumours that there's folks that died waiting to join an automatched 4x4. But as a game it is absolutely brilliant. A lot more fun than Warcraft 3, even if it does have a few balance issues and uses gamespy for multiplayer.
  7. Yes, especially seeing as how the US had supported communists in the past, for example the Khmer Rouge. Apart from using French communists as political proxies (As you're probably aware Ho Chi Minh was a founding member of the French Communist Party) I don't think there was any way for the US to both involve itself in Vietnam and maintain full control. And even then it wouldn't have been easy to control the Frenchies. This isn't strictly true. Apart from nuclear arms the historical record shows there were few practical limits to US actions. The US bombed neutral countries like Cambodia, flattened North Vietnamese cities, poisoned rainforests and water supplies, held civilian populations captive in giant enclosures or simply wiped them out etc. The limits were purely those of firepower rather than any political restraint. It was only with nuclear arms that Vietnam could have been completely cleansed of opposition to the South Vietnamese President; perhaps had he been replaced with someone less corrupt there would have been fewer problems, but apparently this was not possible at the time. In any event I think we'll have to wait another 20 years or so for the 50-year sealed documents to come out before we can make any definitive statements on failures and successes in Vietnam. There's just too many variables to work it out now.
  8. Perhaps that's true, but what's the point of capturing a territory when to hold it you had to exterminate the entire population? I can't imagine there would have been many US citizens willing to move to a barren wasteland that was once called Vietnam so it could be held against the Chinese and the possible arrival of communism. It took courage and brains to pull out. It took stupidity to go in.
  9. You know what? I don't think anyone did ask you. Go the British Empire! It'll be good to have civilisation back again.
  10. It's less about fighting vampires than being beaten up by them. Just don't hit back, make sure your disease resistance is less than 100%, drain magicka from the vampires where appropriate (so they have to attack unarmed/with weapons) and you will eventually be infected. It's more time and luck than anything else.
  11. I asked because it seems strange that off a fresh install the .ini would be corrupted.
  12. Are you using a legit version? Is the CD corrupted in a strange way (can it be run on someone else's computer without issues)? You should have the correct, clean version already with the Morrowind CD.
  13. The worst spell would have to be rally. Has anyone ever actually used it? Anyone who fights on your side usually never bothers to run away.
