Problem with Rat-Catcher quest

I have never noticed this quest before, but I guess it must be added by Better Cities. The guard in the waterfront tunnel ask you to kill some rats for them. I have killed all the rats, returned to the guard and he tells me that he wants me to throw them into the furnace. I do so (it reports that I put them in there), then nothing happens. The quest seems to be stuck and I do not get my pay. Is there something else I need to do to advance, or something I can do to fix this?

Wow. I hate laptops. Two times in a row I try to say this and both times I do not click outa the text area and it goes back a page, losing all that I Wrote. Ugh.

 

For the third and hopefully last time:

 

I do not use better cities, so I do not really know if it is that mod that adds the quest or if it is Vanilla, but I would presume that it is not Vanilla.

 

Something you can do, albeit a little annoying, is open up the construction set, find the Better Cities mod and Load it, go to Character / Quests tab above with the things like File.

Find the quest you are on, if it is better cities it will more than likely use a prefix such as BetterCities<QuestName> or BC<QuestName>

Look at stages and find the one that you are not being updated to but want to. They will be marked more than likely 10, 20, 30, 40 or 1, 2, 3, 4.

 

When you click on it you should see associated text to help give you a hint on what you are looking for.

 

Write down the ID and the quest stage on a paper, open up the game and go to the console (Tilde key ~)

Type SetStage <Quest ID> <Quest Stage>

 

For example, it MIGHT look like something like this:

SetStage BCRatDumpingQuest 40

 

That is just an example. I know it kills realism but it is a sure fire way to bypass something not allowing you to go on

with the quest.

I did as you suggested. Unfortunately, the next stage is where it simply marks the quest as complete (perhaps there is a bug here and there is a missing stage?), so I still did not get payed. I had to use the console for that too. Thank you for the help. If anything like this happens again, I now know what I need to do.
