Hey, is it true that mobs need grass to spawn?

I got a wicked idea for a pure safety area.

Only friendly mobs... Enemies seem to be able to spawn anywhere thats dark.

Hmm...

The idea though, is massively thick walls (more time for creepers to take to get in), stone over the grass and, now, many torches.

Maybe, also a 2 block wide lava moat around the wall? That, or get a whole lot of the hellstone and coat the outside of the wall with it?

If you cover your land with torches say 4 blocks apart in each direction the chances of an enemy spawn at night are so so so tiny :)

Then you can do as you like at any time :)

So I didn't read through all 50 pages, but on the first page.... Did I read something about a Nexus server? Do we have one of those? I've just been getting into the game with couple friends, it's pretty great.

There was a server that all us nexusians played :P

Yeah, it wouldn't let me connect when it was up anyway. I got errors ranging from Bad Login (?) to Server Timeout.
