phayze81
Hi, I hope some one can help me work this out. I've been playing around with CS and decided to make a tabaxi npc to recruit with CSR. Easy right? Not so much. Every time I try to enter the cell where she's placed I get a CTD. :( The weird thing is that the character I'm playing is also tabaxi, and if I load up a tabaxi CM partner downloaded off the nexus, i have no trouble, but i reinstalled the race mod anyway. Then i wondered if it had something to do with the HGEC body, so reinstalled that too. I changed my bugged creation to a vanilla race (dark elf) and she works fine, but if i switch her back it's a one-way ticket to crashtown. Does any of this make sense to anyone else? I'm baffled. Any guidance would be much appreciated!
Hickory
Did you load all of the dependencies your character requires in the CS when you created it?
phayze81
I believe so. The only requirent should be the race mod, right? The female body replacer I'm using is just mesh/tex files. No esp. Come to think of it, because i was making a female character, I didn't load the esp for the male body replacer that I'm using. I wonder if that would make a difference somehow.... I'll check that now. Thanks for the repy! Edit: Okay, so after loading the male body esp I'm not getting an instant crash, but the NPC has no head. o_O. I tried taking away her armor to see if the rest ofher bodg was there bit that brought on the crash. I'm thinking I might need to be using a different hgec variation with an esp. Hickory
I don't think it is a problem with your body replacer. It's more likely to be an error with the Tabaxi race mod and the way that you created the NPC in the CS. Did you create a fresh race, or load the Tabaxi race in the CS and create one using that? phayze81
I'm not sure what you mean by a fresh race (I'm still pretty new to modding), but for the sake of clarity, I'll try to bullet-point my process. - loaded tabaxi race 2.0 and oblivion.esm into CS, no active file. - picked an NPC (Kud-ii, from the Bravil Mage's guild) and renamed the editor id. - 'yes' to create new form. - renamed character, changed race in the drop down, tweaked the face a little. - saved to a new esp- launch game, find NPC, crash. I really can't see any reason why this would work for a vanilla race, but not a custom one. I don't have any other custom races installed, but maybe it would be worth checking to see if a different one has the same problem. Thanks again for trying to help me out with this. :)
Hickory
Ok, the problem with loading an esp is that the CS doesn't see them as master files. What you should do is run Wrye Bash and right click on the Tabaxi esp, then choose 'Esmify Self' -- esp should turn blue. Load the CS and check Oblivion.esm and the 'esmified' Tabaxi esp. Create your character, save and close the CS. IMPORTANT! In Wrye Bash right click on the esmified Tabaxi esp and select 'Espify Self'' -- do NOT forget this step. That should help. phayze81
Interesting. I've never used wyrebash, so I've sort of wondered what it was all about. Having internet problems (been posting from my phone), so it might be a while before I can dl that and try your instructions I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks!
