DavidBudreck
Crashing with no apparent reason is, unfortunately, just part of modded oblivion. Oblivion is notorious for not dealing with memory very well, and this is the root of may types of crashes. You have not given any details on where or how you crash, but my guess is that the graphics mods you have installed, like All Natural, are too much for oblivion to handle. I had once installed Quarl's texture packs, along with several mods around the imperial isle, and as a result could not venture anywhere near it. I eventually uninstalled most of Quarl's texture packs. The other common cause of crashes is simply too many actors present, but there is really no way of pinpointing it. There are a couple of things that can help.1. A mod called Purge Cell Buffers attempts to help oblivion deal with it's memory issues by clearing the cache.2. A mod called Streamline also attempts to help. One of the ways it helps is, unfortunately, to restrict the distance you can see things, which defeats the whole point of your graphic mods.3. Turn view distant land off (Again, defeats the purpose of mods, but I have found that with my mod list, I simply cannot have this enabled).4. Walk, don't run. This gives oblivion a little more time to load and unload regions.5. Save EVERY time you open a door, especially when leaving an interior cell. Will give it a try2. i have LOD disabled3. i have that4. i don't think i can get used to that. but ill see what i can do about my speed5. yeah i've been doing that. .p.s. not using any kind of texture replacers at all.i am using enboost (no visible enb changes active) Edited November 2, 2014 by olha2
DavidBudreck
OK, when running around the wilderness, then my next best guess is Maskar's. Too many actors are probably the biggest culprit to crashing games. It's a catch-22 that the very thing about mods like Maskar's... adding extra encounters so that the wilderness is not so bare... is the very thing that causes Oblivion to crash. I haven't used Maskar's because I use FCOM, but if there are any options to lessen the number of creatures generated in the wilderness, then that is probably the place to start. Maskar
MOO mostly reuses existing wilderness spawn points, rather than adding new ones. New spawn points are only added in almost empty areas like Blackwood. It's therefore unlikely the cause of instabilities.
olha2
@David ima try playing without Maskar's Overhaul for a day see if i crash. @Maskar in that case i doubt your mod is the cause but imma test it anyways, if i stop crashing then by your explanation i'm gonne assume its rather by a incompatability with your mod rather then your mod causing it on its self
Maskar
That doesn't have to be the case. I'm just saying that the increase of spawn points is unlikely the cause. However, there are plenty of other reasons which could be responsible for a game to crash. For instance, your computer could be running out of memory (having many hires texture replacers, etc.). Running less mods will likely help with stability as it will be less demanding on your computer, so it wouldn't hurt.
DavidBudreck
TIE would probably be the next thing to try. It's the number of different critters/NPC's running around at any given time that brings Oblivion to its knees (but unfortunately, not the Only thing that does). Another thing to do is get your hands on the 4GB oblivion Patch, but alas, this by itself is not the be-all end-all fix that they lead on to believe. olha2
i've played without TIE today. expierced less crashes but still had a crash :( but its better now then before, Thanks.Any more recommendations?
DavidBudreck
You are going to have crashes, period. It's a balance between vanilla Oblivion that hardly ever crashes, and filling the world with so many bad guys that you can hardly take a step without crashing. Anything that adds encounters and/or NPC's or extra creatures in the wilderness makes the game that much less stable.
