FeralBlaize
Yeah, I know this must be a daily occurence that a nood can't figure out what to do, but I can't seem to find any answers. Please, if someone could explain to me, in small words, how to download a mod I would be most greatful.
bben46
Welcome to TesNexus This is assuming you want Oblivion Mods, but the other games work the same. 1. Find the mod you want to download2,. Look down and find the 'files' tab - click on it3. Pick the file you want from the selections - most will only have one, but some mods have several versions.4, your download should start 5. ALL downloads are in a compressed format (zipped) so they must be unzipped before installing. Hint: don't start with a complicated mod like deadly reflex or FCOM. Start simple and work your way up. Test each mod when you install and before installing another on - it will save time.
FeralBlaize
Thank you!! How do you unzip them, and is there a specific place you have to save the files?
ub3rman123
YOu can use WinRar or 7-zip for it, but 7-zip is free and also supports .7z files, which are rarely found here too. Once one of those is installed, double-click the .rar/whatever file it is to unzip it. Then, move all the files into the Oblivion Data folder, by default at C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data. You probably don't need to move the readme unless you want something to refer to, though. Once that's all done, open the Oblivion launcher and click Data Files. Check the box beside the mod you installed.
FeralBlaize
Is it the same process for Dragon Age: Origins?
Zaldir
To add a little to ub3erman's post:Do move the Readme as well - This is because of one simple rule: "Always read the Readme!" - That is why it's called Readme, and not DontReadMe^^ And also, are you using Windows Vista or Win7? If so, and Oblivion is installed to the default location, some more steps are needed. (Just so you know before you try installing mods)
ub3rman123
You'll have to ask someone else about mods for DA:O, though. I can't get past the Redcliffe level without losing my whole party over and over.
FeralBlaize
Thank you guys SO much!! I have started to dowbload mods!! Now if I can get the game to stop crashing...
Zaldir
hehe, that's something everyone goes through - mod crashes the game if not installed correctly or if it is incompatible with something - That is why I suggest you to always read the ReadMe. :) If you can't figure out the problem with the crash, copy your load order and paste it onto a post, so we can attempt to help you.
