Deleted3403480User
Hey everyone. So I just got a new video card, meaning I can FINALLY get into modding Skyrim. I have experience modding Oblivion, so this isn't entirely foreign territory. I picked up Mod Organizer (as opposed to NMM), and started downloading mods. Of course, I got a CTD when I tried to start a new game. Not a big surprise; I looked around and realized I might need to clean some of the mods with the program TES5Edit. So I downloaded the program and tried to add it to the list of executables through MO. When I run it, nothing happens. MO gives me a message saying that it is locked while an executable is running, and after around 10 seconds, the message goes away. If I watch my Task Manager, I see TES5Edit appear in preferences, and then disappear without actually doing anything. I'm at a loss; I've been googling the issue for a couple of hours, and can't find anyone else with the same problem. What should I do? I appreciate any help in advance; let me know if any more information is needed, and I will gladly provide it.

camaro_69_327
For a test...Go to the folder you installed TES5Edit, double click the EXE. Did it start instantly or complain . You can use it from outside MO (none of you mods will appear) but as a test to see if the EXE will start. IF it does not start, create a shortcut, in properties for the shortcut , set to run as ADMIN, point MO to the shortcut. Probably a permission Issue, is the game and everything installed into that Crap, UAC protected folder? EDIT : to add, what version of MO, some of the older versions had problems start some Programs, IE Wrye Bash, xEDIT, SUM.....Update to the latest version of MO I have been running MO v1.2.14 for a while now...works good. camaro_69_327
We'll try this again with bullet points. 1. What version of MO?1a. Where is MO installed to....2. Where is Skyrim installed to.."Full path"......3. Check the "edit" in MO, is the Path to TES5Edit correct? Use the [...} and browse to the folder with TESVEdit and click on TES5Edit.exe , click modify once done.
Deleted3403480User
1. I believe I have the latest version of MO1a. MO is installed in my Skyrim folder (NOT the Data folder)2. My path is D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Mod Organizer. I found out too late that it helps to install Skyrim to a non-program files directory; I though it would be okay since my ACTUAL Program Files directory is on my C: drive. Either way, I tried disabling UAC and running MO as Admin (and setting up TES5Edit to run as admin by default).3. The path is correct (I deleted and re-added it several times to see if I was doing it right). I was able to run TES5Edit outside of MO, and I successfully cleaned the files that appeared there (update, dawnguard, hearthfire, dragonborn). It only crashes when run through MO. AlexMarzie
I'm actually having the same issue. I'm running the latest MO and TES5 Edit, installed on my C drive but not in the Programs folder [i'll be honest, I have UAC turned off anyway because ain't nobody got time for that], and I have everything set to "run as administrator". I have tried literally everything I can think of, tried everything in this thread and the countless others I have looked up, and still no dice. My install path for Steam/Skyrim as well as TES5Edit is:C:\Users\[Name Redacted]\Programs and Games[Custom Folder]\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim My install path for MO is:C:\Users\[Name Redacted]\Programs and Games[Custom Folder]\Mod Organizer Also, fun tidbit, BOSS, LOOT, and SKSE will run through MO, just not TES5Edit. I have literally tried everything suggested, from changing installation directories, to administrative permissions, to uninstall-reinstall. Every other program I have run through MO has worked fine, just not TES5Edit.
