Eat Food Straight From The Source (no entering menu) Press X to Eat, A to store

I have R N D mod and I would find it much more immerisive if I could run up to an apple sitting on a table and when my crosshair hovers over it it comes up with two options.

Eat and Take

Eat being the new option where you eat it then and there and get your message up to "you're full" "I could use a bit morre etc"

and take being the noraml option

Has this been made. I imagine it would be very simple.

I want to eat food then and there. Not have to enter the menu and scroll down and click on it.

This would be pretty easy to do with a menu box like vampires get when they actvate a sleeping actor, but some would consider a menu popping up when you click on something pretty unimmersive (at least I have received that complaint about my mods before).

I am working on this now. There are a few decisions to make, so I thought I would solicit some input.

Here is hwo I envision the mod:

1) If you are in your house, a piece of food like the one click on will be added to your inventory and eaten. The piece of food on the plate will be untouched. This would allow you to set up a plate and simply eat off of it.

2) If you are in an inn or a guildhall, activating food will deduct a small meal fee (maybe 10 gp?). You will then consume one random meal, one random fruit or dessert, and one bottle of cheap ale or wine.

In all other situations, you have the option to pick up the food or eat it. If you choose to eat it, the specific piece of food in front of you is consumed.

Thoughts?

I don't think there is a clean way to tell the dfference between cooked and uncooked food in the CK, but if there is I would support that.

I won't be integrating with any specific hunger mod, so my mod has no way of determining if the PC is hungry.

well, doesn't cooking food change it from one item to another? like, raw beaf and cooked beaf are listed as two different things, right? just make a list of food that is counted as raw, and say that this can't be auto-eaten

I could do that, but then there is the issue of mod-added food. I hate it when I am playing and I encounter something in-game that gets treated differently than everything else of similar types just because it was added by a mod. Especially since this mod is supposedly to increase immersion. I imagine nothing breaks immersion like being reminded that you are playing a video game because mods conflict.
