naturalrhythm
Hi, I just installed OOO and it seems to be working mostly fine, however some (not all) containers when I go to activate them glow purple and won't open. I remember seeing this in one of the readmes, but I can't seem to find it on my computer. If you could help me that'd be great I'd really like to play this with OOO as it looks awesome. I also have Qarl's Texture Pack III, Natural Environments, Elven Map Redux and BTmod (I think it's called) inventory mod installed. Thank you for your time. Hickory
In OOO, if containers glow purple when you try to open them, it is because they are locked and either your security skill is not high enough, you are in battle, or have a weapon drawn without the option set for bashing locks. Try sheathing your weapon.
TodaY
Alternatively, you can get Cobl and get the OOO patch it includes. You can then set the lock options yourself in your misc items in your inventory.
bprewitt
Hi, Hate to resurrect such an old thread, but I'm having the same problem and I'm not sure if OOO is screwed up or not. I get the purple chests and understand how to pick locks/bash in OOO. The problem is that when I sheath my weapon and try to pick the lock absolutely nothing happens. Same with doors. No sound, no nothing. It acts as if it isn't even registering the action. I've uninstalled and reinstalled FCOM completely, following all of the instructions explicitly. Run vanilla Oblivion and then OOO to make sure that was the issue (and it appears to be). Is this normal operating procedure for OOO? Am I just misinterpreting how the mod works? I'd be more than happy to create a new thread and detail all of the mods I have installed, but it really seems like an OOO issue and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for your help! -BP
Hickory
I'm not sure that I undersand you correctly. Are you saying that you cannot pick locks OR doors, even in vanilla Oblivion? The purple glow on locked chests in OOO is not accompanied by any sound, but you will often see a text warning, along the lines of: your skill is not high enough, or now is not the time for lock bashing (cannot pick locks while in combat). Hi Hickory, Sorry for not being clearer. Everything works fine in vanilla Oblivion, but stops after I install OOO/FCOM (specifically OOO/FCOM, as I went through and single-handedly tested nearly every single other mod out of 175+). With OOO/FCOM, I cannot pick locks or doors and I get no text warning message. To make sure my skill level was high enough I gave myself high skill settings via console and still wasn't able to pick locks or doors. Really bizarre. I'll give OOO/FCOM one more clean install and try and do everything as painstakingly manually as possible... but I'm still stupefied as to how it's managed to completely break the lockpicking system. (and I seem to be the only one out there with this issue! leading me to believe I did/continue to do something wrong) Thanks for your help,-BP
bprewitt
Well, that was painful, but I've managed to solve the issue after reinstalling Oblivion and following immediately with a meticulous install of FCOM. Phew. Thanks again! -BP
