Mounted Attacks

Mounted combat isn't really that realistic. Archery and the casting of spells, maybe, but fighting with a hand weapon on horseback against infantry isn't generally a good idea. In formation it makes more sense because you get that 'wall of steel' effect, but a guy on horseback on his own is extremely vulnerable to mass infantry.

I agree with Cactoblasta, there should definitely be Archery and Spellcasting on horses, or at least the casting of on self spells. But then again, you aren't fighting in any sort of large mass battle war, so it would makes sense that it would work for small battles, which oblivion is made of. And also, it would just make Oblivion alot more realistic to even have the option to do so.

You havnt looked much into this have you? Bethesda sucks btw. I want a game where combat consists of slashing someone's limbs off, not hitting someone 30 times with a sword until they finally die. Maybe something that actually requires some skill and that gets the adreniline pumping. Locational damage for f*cks sake! Games are going no-where...

Have to agree to that... It would be so f00ken cool to slice someones throat when they are sleeping. And blood everywhere. But just slashing someone is really boring. Really boring. And with some hjuuge axe you should atleast blast something off! It just isnt real!

But fighting from a horse would suck ass! Imagine you stealing something from a city, killing one of the gueards and fleeing to forest. When you think youre safe there, a imperial woodsmen comes with horse and shoots you with his bow and you who dont have a horse...

Yeah, by adding horses the developers should have figured what we'd ask for next. A lot of things they promised arn't in the game, so if you're disappointed, you're not the only one.

That's true, but they never said mounted combat would be in the game. They said it wouldn't be in the game.

Slashing someone's limbs of? So that you can hit your opponent once on a nice spot and he is dead? Let's not forget Oblivion is a RPG, not an action game. Sure it has some action elements, but it's mainly a rpg. So why does Bethesda suck? If you want to slash limbs of and not hit someone 30 times you bought the wrong game. Get the newest prince of persia then.

It would be nice if the developers could encorporate elements from both games i.e the open-ended, free roaming of Morrowind(oblivion doesnt deserve recognition) where you cruise around looting caves and taking random quests or missions, as well as those from...well other games-i have never played the newer P of Ps, just the original. But anyway, i don't even think there has been a game that has sufficiently fulfilled my desire for blood and dismemberment, especially one with graphics of half-life 2 and physics of Oblivion. Who does Bethesda think they are? The hitting someone 1000 times until they die thing worked in Morrowind because it was just such a great RPG. But now in Oblivion they incorporate action elements into combat (blocking, gay moves you hardly wish you had wasted all that time playing the game to get) and give us new stuff like awesome physics and nice graphics-all that just to tease us with the fact we cant put them to proper use! So much more satisfying to play would be Oblivion if you could mutilate your enemies!

I have to agree. There were so many more possibilities with the technology, especially the physics engine. I mean, imagine using telekinesis as on offensive tool! I really, really expected to be able to kill people with a sword...using my mind! I wanted to be able to tip over rocks on my unsuspecting enemies! But no. The game doesn't include that sort of thing.

The enviroments had the potential to be utterly amazing, but they didn't mix it up any. The dungeons all feel the same to me. There is virtually no action above-ground. Bah. Could've been a lot better. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it just could have been a lot better. Hmmm...I think I just went off-subject. Sorry?
