gromulos
BBEN, GFWL isn't an issue here, I have the Fallout 3 DVD retail version and I have been playing my game every day for the last 2 weeks. What COULD be an issue if thesupafro has the same version as me is when he / she goes to install the DLC's, But for right now we won't go into that. Purr4me
@gromulos, there is a third possibility - the original FO3 required GFWL ( Games for windows live) instead of steam. I don't know if the steam version still has that in it or not. But there is a patch here to remove the GFWL requirement. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1086/? @Purr4me Last....windows "Microsoft" is pulling support for windows 8 very soon, it's been shut down from retail sales, windows 7 is also in the snipers scope too. Technology is changing very fast as of now. there won't be a tomorrow or later thing available. PC games are going to be changing fast. your running out of time.MS has officially stated that extended support for Win7 will last until Jan 20, 2020 - however there will be no more service packs issued. This is not anything new, this was the schedule all along. And for Win8 until 2023. Again, with Win10 coming soon, I don't expect any more service packs for it either - but you will still get regular security updates just like you always have. Source: http://support2.microsoft.com/gp/lifepolicy BTW, I am looking forward to seeing your Linux crossover :thumbsup:No problem when things are ready, your first on the list.Edit: appreciate the link but I had that information already, it was once listed in my signature ...which i removed as it seemed to not gather any hits.To get you where you need to be concerning this:Last....windows "Microsoft" is pulling support for windows 8 very soon, it's been shut down from retail sales, windows 7 is also in the snipers scope too. Technology is changing very fast as of now. there won't be a tomorrow or later thing available. PC games are going to be changing fast. your running out of time.I was reading this last night. (http://www.valuewalk.com/2014/11/microsoft-corporation-stops-retail-sales-of-windows-7-and-8/)6th paragraph down there is the word "banned" click that. What that leads to is also connected to yet another thing I seen here.Lately.. too.The information I requested would show me beyound any doubt about the source of a particular bug as I mentioned................(SecuROM).........It's nasty. and there are things in this world NOT so cut and dry....Now for the Uneducated here. any one that matters any way. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SecuROM)SecuROM is a CD/DVD copy protection and digital rights management (DRM) product developed by Sony DADC. Its purpose is to resist home media duplication devices, professional duplicators, and reverse engineering of software, primarily commercial computer games running under the Microsoft Windows platform. The method of disc protection in current versions is Data Position Measurement; this may or may not be used in conjunction with online DRM components.Opponents, including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, believe that fair-use rights are restricted by DRM applications such as SecuROM.[1][2] SecuROM has generated controversy because it is not uninstalled upon removal of the game. A 2008 class-action lawsuit was filed against Electronic Arts for its use of SecuROM in the video game Spore.[3]the Quote is for my sanity as fear seems to be great as to links provided by users here.Basically I need to know if the data in question which is provided from a "retail DVD second disc GOTY version.IF you want a quick analytic version , short and dirty, post the size, file size the windows explore says is on the disc of this file from the game directory.........(FalloutLauncher.exe )...that tells all. post that and I will know what to do. the file size only as it is right now.Back to windows.....If things go as they always have gone with Microsoft, you can bet updates will be accidental sent out that will cripple the OS currently considered a security risk under the guise of "security reasons."they admitted involvements of NSA so do you really trust the listed support things?Google ..the fight over IE....Firefox.....and a few other internet software applications......are all being tailored for the new age.Hand held devises, VR's like Oculas Rift. and i see thee are new breads /version from up starts also.any way's. hard ware difficulties are accident prone to fallout3 even for me if things go wrong on any system, the old software will just plain choke on it's self. But if you one of those lucky ones and get a really clean install ! it's solid as a rock baby, really fast, smooth as silk and NO ctd's Ever. That;s the key...getting it installed without bugs following it around.kitty. Edited November 5, 2014 by Purr4me
