Too MAny Mods?

Over the past week, I have been installing dozens of mods to fallout 3, extensively testing them every few mods so I can know where to make merged patches, to reorder, or to just get rid of a mod incompatible with my overall set-up. I've exceeded 100 mods, to the point where Fallout Mod Manger is registering everything after 99 with a letter for the first number. I've obviously been dealing with more problems since then, but now I've got to where every time I add another mod, it sends the textures in-game on a frenzy and doesn't allow me to bring up the main menu, with the ESC key or otherwise. I have reason to beleive this because the last few groups of mods I've been adding, I would end up cutting mods off until I had the number of mods I currently am stuck at. Is it possible to just have too many mods?

 

Here is my load order. I've been over it a few times, however, and can't find any problems that I thought I had fixed with a merge patch.

Everything past WMK, including its compatiblity files for the DLCs, cause the same effect to the game. I've tried mods ranging from a simple gun addition to a mod extending the missile blast radius, stuff that shouldn't interfere with anything else and are not taxing mods. Have I merely exceeded a limit, and need to start merging ESPs?

Download and run BOSS-F to get your load order sorted. A load order that messy will cause all kinds of problems. As for textures going crazy, be sure to either use the Toggle Invalidation button in FOMM or download ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated. Don't forget to remake your merged patch every time you change your load order.
