Sex in DA2

I'm with you on this one, RustyBlade. As long as you have an option, either turn it on or turn it off. No one is forcing anyone to do either. To be honest, DAO was the first game I ever played that even had the romances, let alone the mods that allowed them to go farther. I say, everyone has a level to which they want to go with this sort of thing; and that is why we have choices. There is no need for any of us to judge anyone else's choices. These games are played for our own enjoyment and our own reasons. If some people like their romance a little spicier and some a little more refined, so be it. The options are there for all. And basically you can pretty much play it with no romance if that is your schtick. To each his own (within reason).

Echoing Grannywils, I installed Luchaire's BSC mod, and experimented with most of the combinations/versions to see/enjoy what she'd accomplished, but got tired of it pretty quickly. I've come to the conclusion that, for me, BioWare called it just about right in the vanilla game; brief cuddle sex scene the first time, fade to black after initial embrace thereafter. Lovers can continue to engage, but I don't continue to play the voyeur. And of course, as RB said, it's really all under my control anyway. But as any author knows, sometimes those characters take on a life of their own! :tongue:

 

But I also think that that one scene in the un-modded game looks absolutely ridiculous with the characters in their small clothes. :yucky: I don't care how modest you are, I think you'd have to admit that any nude mod is better than that. ;D Just cut together some slightly less revealing camera angles and you could still have a PG-13 version. (Maybe we should ask Luchaire if she would do one for the Disney crowd?)

Totally agree on the nude mod. Sex with clothes on is not a simple act :P

 

I just find it disappointing that they need to resort to using sex to sell the game. That's the main point of it. It creates controversy, which in turn creates unpaid publicity which in turn gets people to purchase the game to see what the fuss is all about. If it was done properly there would be more intimacy with the characters who fall in love and more playful flirting with those who are just after a roll in the hay.

Well, I feel like that's almost exactly the difference between the available pairings. In the vanilla game (without "Equal Love" or Polygamey") you have: Playful=Morri/Zev, Serious=Leli/Al. Three possible partners for each gender. So depending on your preferences (both sorts) you can find/have the kind of relationship you want. In general, the conversations and the Party Banter are appropriate to the kind of romance you chose.

 

Caution. If you follow that line through, you can potentially wind up at the "What's your opinion of Morrigan?" thread with a very strong opinion! ;D

Oh, and circling back to RB's reminder that, "It's all under our control." After having consummated the relationship, the player NEVER has to choose "Let's go to bed." Ever. All the plot flags and dialogue triggers will have been tripped appropriately, so one can enjoy the exact same relationship(s) platonically now, and not miss anything in the game. (Well, kisses are nice...) ;D

You people are disgusting. Really, sex? Romances are suppose to be more tasteful, not two pixel people rubbing each other. Sorry if it sounds prude but romances is about connection and is a powerful tool when used in a story. So yes there will be sex, enjoy it while you can.

 

Totally agree it's the romance and the flirting that I liked the most and I don't think it's prudish at all, I'm no prude but pixel sex is a bit silly, I mean come on pixels can't have sex, not even the best mod is that good, if it's porn you want go for the real deal there is plenty out there. If you don't want romance as part of your game there is the choice not to romance, just be friends or enemies how ever you want to play it, don't speak to them at all.
