crippknottick
Surely, this request is so simple you'll be wondering why I couldn't do it myself. Lot's of us become specialists at the things we do. My specialty is scripting. I can kinda do some photoshopping for textures, but I cannot seem to make a REALLY simple mesh. 3D models (and networking) seem to be my weak spots that I just can't seem to learn. I tried making some but they always end up making the game and editor crash to the desktop. I am requesting 7 sphere meshes, made to look like solid glass/crystal, tinted a deep orange, with little flat red stars in the middle of them. If you haven't guess it already it's dragon balls that I am in need of. I plan to make a quest based mod in which you hunt for and gather the 7 balls and make a wish. They'll need proper collision too so they can roll around the ground naturally. Pictures UPDATE: Here is what I've come up with so far. The glassiness kind of looks blocky and it still crashes the editor and game. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w25/SquealOfDeath/dbsr1.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w25/SquealOfDeath/dbscr2.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w25/SquealOfDeath/dbscr3.jpg UPDATE 2: I've finally made a working version for the editor. Still looks too blocky though. Any way to smooth it out?http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w25/SquealOfDeath/dbscr4.jpg UPDATE 3: I've stumbled across a problem. It looks too translucent and ghost-like. Amy advice?http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w25/SquealOfDeath/dbscr5.jpg
crippknottick
Is there any way I can rid of the ghostlike translucency? It's like my dragon ball has no solid surface to it. (sorry for the bump) UPDATE: I made all 7 dragon balls. I have made them a modder's resource so they could get fixed. If anyone is interested in adding collision and proper reflective/glossiness properties to them please be my guest. It would make me the happiest man around. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33705 UPDATE 2: I managed to add collision by combining the dragon balls with resized flawless pearl collsion data via NifSkope. I think all they need now is some proper material properties and a glassy translucent texture added to them. Can somebody add a texture and correct material properties to them? or how would i go about doing it myself?
ub3rman123
Hmm, what method did you use to add transparency? Lower the alpha or make the texture slightly more transparent?
crippknottick
Hmm, what method did you use to add transparency? Lower the alpha or make the texture slightly more transparent?I used something called Ray to simulate glassiness in Blender. Problem though, and I just spent the last 20 minutes on blender trying to figure it out is how to add a texture and map it to the glass balls? ub3rman123
This might help.
crippknottick
Thanks to your link two things have occurred: 1. I pulled all my hair out in frustration. 2. I managed to finally make a texture for the dragon ball. But it still does not look right when I export it into a nif. See here for example. The final result look almost identical to the previous ugly looking balls I made. In blender it looks fantastic. Does Oblivion not render glass effects like seen in the screen shot? ub3rman123
Hmm.. My usual method for applying alpha to an object is to do so in NifSkope (Haven't gotten it to work on weapons yet, just clutter). Try opening the thing in NifSkope, and right click on the NiTriStrips you want to make translucent. Then click 'Node', then Attach Property. Then press NiAlphaProperty. if that doesn't make it go translucent, go to the materials tab of the NiTriStrips (looks like a painter's pallet), then click it and lower the alpha at the bottom. crippknottick
The balls are translucent. But in an ugly like half faded away look. Maybe it is because I used RayTracing in blender? Does the NiF format support the glassy look from RayTracing?
ub3rman123
It's probably just the method. That lowering the alpha thing just lowers the alpha on the whole thing environment included. I suppose you'll need to find someone who knows more in that case. Or you could take a look at someone the objects in vanilla with the effect you like, such as the Crystal Ball. But how do I get rid of the bumpiness of the seeded glass of the crystal ball? I need the dragon balls to look smooth.
