Adding sockets to new items with Toolset

Every time I try and make my own item (namely a longsword with some sockets, using silverite or dragonbone for the material) the toolset freezes on me and stops working.

I can get into the variables menu and then even actually change the 0 to a 1 to set the sockets. But when I click on OK the whole things just dies and I get the typically "This program has stopped working please wait while Windows searches for a solution" window.

Anyone else get this problem? I've got 1.01 ver for the Toolset, though aquired it through a torrent not from the BioWare Social Site.

Any suggestions?

Try it without the sockets. The game will automatically add runeslots to the weapon, based on it's material. Silverite gets 2 runeslots, and DB gets 3.

And dont download off the torrents.

No it won't if the ITEM_RUNE_ENABLED item variable is not set.

This is a bit of a hack workaround, but one thing you can try is to open the exported item UTI directly in the toolset (using File -> Open File and pointing to the actual UTI on disk). This will let you edit the UTI at a low-level with the GFF editor. Expand "VarTable" and item 12, and you should be looking at the ITEM_RUNE_ENABLED variable for that item. Set the Value to 1 and save the UTI.

The downside to this approach is that you would need to do this every time you export this item from your toolset, since the change is not being recorded in the source database files this way.

I do not know about the DA Toolset license agreement in regards to distribution of the free tool (I don't have the game or the toolset...obviously) but it probably is not illegal to share via HTTP or Torrent.

But with that said, downloading from a torrent link that is not "official" or "unofficially" supported by the community can be problematic. 1. Are the files inside this particular torrent modified? Should probably compare the hash values of every file to an official installation. 2. Has this particular torrent worked for other people? Not really possible to tell if there is not a forum topic that give the community a chance for feedback about the particular torrent link.

Torrents are used by many official companies to offload bandwidth from their servers but like previously stated, you should stay away from unofficial torrents unless you are absolutely sure about their contents (such as having hash values to verify files...which is quite unlikely)
