Weird Characters replace Dialogue

I got an armor mod and it turned some weapons text to well that kind of text. I later removed the mod then all my armor and weapon names turned back to normal. I go back into game to find out that some NPC's dialogue turns into that text. It mostly shows up when i talk to an NPC that you can barter, sell, trade items with and carry stuff so yea it includes followers. The reason this pissed me off is that when i download a modded follower into skyrim their text is only those weird characters and i can't recruit them. The picture shows a modded merchant NPC.

I have verified the integrity of game cache on steam, i have updated and or replaced the Translate_ENGLISH.txt file from the data interface folder and i have re-installed followers with problem. Nothing worked. Ohh and the NPC in the picture was from a mod i downloaded a long time ago and now her dialogue is messed up.

Exact same thing happened to me. Not entirely sure what causes it. Only happens with NPC dialogue so far though.

my first thought is that there is a mod you have, maybe in common that ISNT in english

That mod what you installed had foreign language letters. You removed it, solved the problem with languages.

After that did you went back to a save which was prior installing the mod with the foreign language?

 

 

Savegames store all the bugs and problems as well in Skyrim. Once it is baked into your save that save is lost, corrupted.

 

Try go back, and check if the problem is still there, or there on a new game.

If it is, then you still have a mod / or just loose files which are affecting you game.

I am having the same issue as well and believe it may be playing a role in breaking a main quest for me. the link in the second post no longer goes anywhere and i cant remember what mod started this. if anyone remembers please help
