CptAwesome91
I'm in desperate need of help here. I can't get Oblivion to run after reinstalling it. Let me try to give you as much information as possible. I previously had Oblivion installed and could run it beautifully. I was enjoying trying different mods and whatnot, but I soon ran in to annoyances since I had installed Oblivion to Program Files. So I decided to uninstall it and reinstall it to C:\Oblivion to avoid user permission issues. I uninstalled it, and removed all traces of it and any mods from my machine before reinstalling it. I reinstalled it to C:\Oblivion, and it looks fine. But it isn't. I cannot get it to start now. I try the shortcut, I try the Launcher, I try the Auto Run from the disk, but no matter what it gets about half way through showing the "Bethesda" logo and playing the intro music before cutting out and giving me that stupid "Oblivion has stopped working, windows is searching for a solution" message. Now, I have tried reinstalling it off of two separate disks, so I know I have a clean install. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm mad that it was working great right up until I try to reinstall it and then it decides not to work. As far as I can tell, absolutely nothing is different from before, only now it won't work. GRRR! If it makes any difference, here's my system: OS: Windows 7 64-bitCPU: Intel i7 720QM quad-coreGPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GBSystem RAM: 6GB DDR3 Please help! CptAwesome91
Yeah, 7 64-bit.
Wolfram44l
Yeah, 7 64-bit.I am also using Windows 7 64bit. After first install it ran in low resolution, but crashed in higher settings. I tried the deletion of the "Oblivion" folder, but that did not work for me. I have done two reinstalls without success. I always now get the "Oblivion has stopped working" dialogue. I tried Windows XP service pack 2 setting as suggested by Bethesda, but no go. I am using a Dell XPS studio, Core i7 860, 8gb Ram, Radian HD5770 with the latest Catalyst installed. I have the latest patch version of Oblivion. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I read a lot of bad feedback about 10.7 on the AMD forums. I have 10.6 installed (Windows7 x64 ultimate, HD4870), and before 10.6, my machine locked up every now and then, but right now, Oblivion seems to be rock solid. Where did you find 10.6? I do have a triple monitor configuration using both dvi outputs on the Radian and drive the 3rd monitor with the display port. (I only use the main monitor for gaming)

Here is the link: Previous Catalyst Drivers It say "Vista 64" but when you click on a link to a Catalyst package, you will see that it is Vista 64/Windows 7 x64. bben46
Uninstalling the game, and even deleting the game folders does not remove everything, and can actually cause a problem when reinstalling - especially to a new location. The game installer puts some entries in the windows registry that are not removed by the game uninstaller. This is covered in my complete uninstall/reinstall article. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240 It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.
