RideTheCatfish
How exactly does this work? The GECK wiki's page is brief and doesn't exactly help. If I've got a whole world that is basically devoid of Object LODs (messing around with JCDenton's Los to Ruin modder's resource), what do I have to do before generating them? I probably sound like a complete idiot, but I'm clueless here.
BadPenney
Say you have a diner in the middle of nowhere with a tall sign that says "Eat at Cannibal Joe's" and you want to make it show up from a long way off. You make low resolution .tga files of the high resolution .dds files that are associated with the high resolution meshes of the diner and the sign. Then when you generate object LOD for the diner and the sign in your worldspace their LOD wireframes will have skins.
RideTheCatfish
Now what if you aren't making any custom objects that need LOD, and everything in your worldspace already exist in Bethesda's .BSAs.
chucksteel
Now what if you aren't making any custom objects that need LOD, and everything in your worldspace already exist in Bethesda's .BSAs. Sorry to say it doesn't really work that way, it's not only about custom meshes or, textures. Beth's BSA's don't come into play when trying to generate LOD. If your trying to add a vanilla building or, rock formation that has bethesda's LOD files you'll need to have them live in there proper location before trying to generate LOD or, it will fail. Here is a link to my LOD essentials pack, it's intended to ease the process but, is not perfect. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13676 the readme tries to explain the LOD process in simple terms but if you need more assistance feel free to PM me. chuck Edit: although "BadPenny" is right, if you were trying to create LOD for custom textures you would need the low rez TGA files he spoke of.
