mitchmitch3
I'm a long-time mod-user dating back to morrowind days, anyways, I've played through FO3 on the xbox, and I wasn't disappointed persay, but I definetely wasn't enjoying my self as much as I would be if I was playing on the modded computer version. So I got the computer version, and now I'm looking for a list of basically must-have mods to improve the gameplay. I found the shooter aspects completely lame in the fact that they were too slow and weak, and way too chance related(bullet spread). Anyone have a good list of mods to start playing with? Something like FWE/FOOK, MMM, a 20th century weapon mod(Frederycks or the other one, don't know which one is better) ? Just need some advice so I can start playing the game to its fullest. bethjunkie
Guns: FWE, Weapon Mod Kits, eXcalibr Universe- Book of Earache (not fully WMK-compatible but you can still use the mod kits on your energy weapons)Enemies: MMM, FEV Subjects, IguanasQuests: Puce Moose's quests, Librarian: Orion's Gate, Vault 101 Revisited, Arefu Expanded, TecVault (house mod with a great quest to obtain it) That should keep you occupied for quite some time. When you're bored with that, spend some time prowling through the deepest darkest corners of the Nexus looking for hidden gems. Have fun!

Also should I download FOSE/Modmanager/archive invaladiation
bethjunkie
You'll need Fallout Mod Manager to manage your load order, FOSE is needed for many mods as is FO3Edit for its merged patch feature. You can either download ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated to handle your archive invalidation needs or you can use FOMM's built-in "Toggle Invalidation" button. BOSS-F does a decent job of sorting your load order but you'll likely have some unrecognized mods to sort by hand. Oh, you may need to check out the FOIP page. It has patches you'll need if you're using multiple major mods together (such as FWE/WMK/MMM) and a good load order guide too.

bethjunkie
NMC's Texture Pack is pretty much the gold standard. It comes in several different texture sizes so you can choose the one which fits your computer specs best. 4Aces has some nice textures too plus he has textures for the DLCs. Better Clutter and Furniture is just what it sounds like and Obsidianstag has some nice retextures for skill books and burned books. If you have Zeta, Real Earth Zeta retextures the Earth beautifully. Weather- Fellout is probably the most popular weather mod but there are several great alternatives. Wasteland Moods has a wide variety of weathers you can choose from, Enhanced Weather can even provide rain if you want it, Dynamic Weather is popular too. A new one is Their World. It is a combination weather/tree/grass mod. The pics of it are really gorgeous. If you want something in a completely different direction, you could try Desert Theme or even put Palms in the Wasteland.
mitchmitch3
:S I have the steam version, and I can't get fo3edit or fomm working, where do I install all this ? Fo3edit is talking about registries when I try to open it, and fomm wants it in the right directory.
bethjunkie
I've never used Steam. Both FOMM and FO3Edit go in the same directory as your game.
mitchmitch3
They are, but when I try to run fo3 edit it tells me that the registry check failed :(
