Too many invisible audio ads

What's with the audio ads playing every minute or so on the Nexus page? You mute it, and it just refreshes itself and plays a new one. Other times you can't even see the ad to mute it. Can't watch any embedded videos or anything else while I'm looking at mods without being blasted by ads that have volume so much higher then anything else does. Really making the site annoying.

This is something new. Please give us some more information on these invisible ads - your location for one as all ads are location specific and that will help us track down the jerks that are violating the standards we set for ads.

Are you hearing these on any other internet sites? or just Nexus? The 3rd party ad company we use is used by many other sites as well, and knowing of any other sites might help zero in on them.

Anyone else seeing hearing these?

It was occuring a lot last night on the FNV Nexus, while I was uploading a file update. Couldn't close the tab because the file was uploading. By location do you mean my IRL location? If so Austin, Texas. I can't tell you what they were advertising, because I slammed my mute key as soon as it started blasting.

And I couldn't say if I've heard them on other sites. Generally avoid ads when I can. I'll definitely pay more attention to what they are specifically next time though.

Yes. I get an insane amount of auditory advertisements. Sometimes four at once. In fact, that is partially the reason I'm here on the forums. There are too many video advertisements. I don't mean complain- I mean it's common sense that we all need cash to make a site function, but the lag from just a single window or tab on both Google Chrome or Firefox is so bad that I can't move or scroll the window or use my computer for over a minute. I can run Skyrim on ultra and my internet is likely one of the best in the world. This is only on nexus. I love nexus, I come here every day, and the community is just so great. It's just the sheer lag... It's insane. I beg you- is there anything you can do about the number of buffering video ads? I just looked at the global settings on chrome, and one was requesting 1080p quality...

Compared to many sites we have minimal advertising. We specify that advertisements not auto run either audio or video. And that they not be outside of the spaces allocated for ads on the site. Unfortunately, advertisers are constantly pushing the boundaries and cheating - when caught they are removed. Like EVERY other site advertisements come through a third party advertising company who are responsible for seeing to it that our specifications for advertising are met. And the jerks who advertise are constantly cheating because there is no other penalty than they are cut off until they create a new ad producing site and do it again. Then, there are hijackers that will take over an ad and do things like LOUD!!! audio, obnoxious moving and flashing, and waiting a few seconds, then popping up an ad in the center of the screen blocking your view. If you see these please - get a screen shot and report them and we will have them removed as soon as possible.

First - NEVER click on these ads. that is how they make their money.

Second - REPORT them - if you don't, we don't know. - and ads are region specific so even if we allow ads we may not see them.

Third - (optional) become a premium or supporter member and NEVER see an ad on the Nexus again EVER. Even after the subscription runs out you will still not see ads. See if you can find any other site anywhere that does this.
