schijnn
I usually play armored caster types, but have been looking for a change. So, I decided to try a melee-focused character, and was hoping for some advice. I use FCOM along with Oblivion WarCry, Bob's Armory, and Lloth's Blunt Weapons for NPCs, and melee is far too difficult unless I turn the difficulty way down. Even then, if I'm fighting more than one mob at a time (which is most of the time, thanks to FCOM), roughly two-thirds of my attacks get blocked/parried, making it difficult to do any damage. For reference, I typically wear heavy armor, and carry a one-handed sword and shield.Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, or mods that will help me with playing a melee character? Thanks in advance!

schijnn
major skills ... I know the skills I need as major skills, I'm having trouble killing things due to constantly being blocked.
schijnn
Hmm, switching to a two-hander seems to help, though I'd still appreciate any advice, suggestions, or recommended mods!
Axxaw
I pretty much always play a melee attacker, the strategy I find most effective is block their attack then hit them with 2-3 normal hits while strafing around to their back, and if you stagger them go for a power attack. As far as mobs go, always keep one enemy in front and the others behind the one you're currently dealing with (especially with archers and spell casters). TheCalliton
i usually kill them before they kill me, power attacks do wonders
Shaun919
I strongly reccommend Deadly Reflexs:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8273It will improve combat no end, however be aware it also changes NPC's. Sadly i can't advise you on any tactics for only melee because i have never done it myself. Hope that helps
albonaut
I understand your pain, it is such a pain when you go to attack one enemy, and another enemy just happens to be there blocking. But I agree with Axxaw, try your best to keep the enemy your beating up separated from the other enemies. Sometimes, if there's multiple melee enemies, you just have to force your way between them and take a few hits to the back. Thats where your heavy armor comes in. However, this is not recommended, and it's something I usually only do when I'm so frustrated at an enemy that i can take it anymore.
schijnn
Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I'm now using Mayu's Animation Overhaul: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19796 , along with Deadly Reflexes and Unnecessary Violence. The difference is amazing. gangsterlax
You could try adding elemental damage to your fists, Midas Magic has spells for that. I don't usually play brawler characters but I think these mods are cool.
