Do not get the d2d version. Go for steam if you prefer purchasing online to buying a disk.

Go with hard copy, none of the limitations associated with the other versions.

I got Oblivion, Shivering Isles, DLC Pack, Official Guide, DLC Official Guide along with the original maps/book, the leather bound Cyrdodill Guide, the Unopened Septim for $20.00 with free shipping and handling on ebay

(It also came with the original Marrowind Bloodmoon/Tribunal maps the guy had thrown in by accident lmao )

and yes Oblivion has OBMM "OBlivion Mod Manager" which is the daddy of FOMM "FallOut Mod Manager" which you are already familiar with. You will find allot of the tools you use in Fallout modding are the children of Oblivion utilities such as FOSE "FallOut Script Extender" is called OBSE "OBlivion Script Extender" and is just as essential as it is in Fallout...

OBSE doesn't work with d2d. So rule that out immediately. I have the Steam purchase, and it works perfectly. (You have to use an OBSE loader update that Valve released in order to get it to run through Steam, but other than that it works flawlessly).

All depends on whether or not you care about all the "extra" you get with purchasing the hard copy. (Book, physical map, etc...).

Oh, and it cost me $25 USD to purchase the GOTY Deluxe version off Steam (The only version they sell) - bought it about a month ago, so price probably hasn't dropped.

When you use Windows Vista or 7 and you install through steam, you should be aware that you can't use replacer files by simply pasting them into your oblivion\data directory (steam is installed in its default directory).

You will have to build an OMOD to make re-placers works: How To Create An OMOD

It is quite simple for plain re-placers. The most basic script command you will have to know is, i.e.: CopyDataFolder "path\\to\\replacer\\directory\\mesh\\characters\\_male" "mesh\\characters\\_male"

stricken618 has written a short introduction for an other mod where a replacer did not work with steam: HGEC Better Bouncing Boobs Hcup Ecup Dcup Forum #265
