It's Akaviri, and how many do you have? The armor's cuirass isn't good, 8 points of armor rating, so I imagine everything else is bad, to killer of mages.

p.s.

Mage with pride! However, a battlemage.

Guard gear is decent until level 8.

At the moment, I use Adonnay's hadhafang. Equivalent to Daedric/ebony gear, and it damages ghostly opponents.

A good sword at your level would be one of the dremora weapons, as they are daedric without level restrictions. They may have more or less of what you want and don't want.

Guards wear chain armor. You can find chain in loot at level 6. The next best stuff you can find is mithril at level 10. But if you want really good light armor early on, just join the dark brotherhood. They give you great armor right when you join.

As for silver, you find that at level 4. Level 6 is the next best, dwarven. So silver is good for level 5.

Unless you have some good offensive magic it's a good idea to use a silver or enchanted weapon anyway. If I was you I would simply go with whatever armour and weapon you can find, the higher the value the better so long as you can carry it.

Dremora equipment is usually too heavy to bother using so I wouldn't bother with it. Stick with the guard armour you've found and you'll be fine until enemies start dropping something better.
