Tenchi
I was walking round Seyda Neen, where the guy falls out of the sky... and I saw someone floating high up. Went up to meet him and it was the "dead" guy with the jumping scrolls... alive... and when I talked to him he said "I don't want to talk about it", only option was goodbye. According to the talk screen, he repaires and barters... could be a mod, but I dunno. Weird, ne?
Switch
freaky. i've heard someone else say that they were able 2 save him from dying... u got any mods running?
Tenchi
Got over 20 mods running, probably one of them. Still, the guy DID die the first time I walked around there, and I simultaneously saw the dead (grounded) body and the living (levitating) body. Still weird. Marxist ßastard
I think I know what's going on... For some odd reason, NPC data and the data that indicates that a certain object is disabled are sometimes deleted from savegames after extended periods of time where the data hadn't been used. If you make an NPC in Vivec walk to Ebonheart and not come anywhere near the two cities for tears on end, the NPC will most likely be back in Vivec because of this. Similarly, if you disable a slave shack by the Arvel Plantation and come back after a few years, the shack will magically reappear. Your savegame had no data on Tarhiel or the collsion barrier that holds him up until the script on Tarhiel's Journal runs, so when the cell loaded, Tarhiel and the boundary were back in their default positions. The script that disables the boundary and makes Tarhiel fall didn't run because Tarhiel's Journal, which that script is running from (if you sell Tarhiel's Journal to an NPC, the script will run on the NPC that is carrying the book -- I realized this after I entered Jobasha's Rare Books and heard a girlish Bosmer scream) is nowhere to be found in the cell. If that's not what's happening, your guess is as good as mine.
DreamOfTheRood
That's about the best explanation I've heard about this unique phenomenon.
