marka89
Hello you all, I'm in desperate need for some help with this annoying problem. I have just recently purchased Oblivion GOTY today and when I got home and placed Disc One into my DVDRW drive, the following happens: The computer takes about 5 mins to process and then nothing happens, it does not recognize any disc! A message is displayed saying "Please insert a disc into the drive" So I placed Disc Two into the DVDRW drive and it immediately recognizes the disc, except I can't install it because it holds the expansion pack which requires the first disc. So, I know thought that Disc One must be a faulty disc and I asked my friend to test it out on his laptop, and voila his Laptop recognizes Disc One without any problem! I don't understand the problem here! I have installed fairly recently released games without any problem whatsoever, so why is this 4 year old game so special that my DVDRW won't recognize it? By the way I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit as my operating system. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks
Hickory
Have you tried cleaning the disc with a lint-free cloth? Do not follow the grooves (in a circle) when you clean discs, but wipe them in straight lines from the inside outwards, and do not use any abrasive cleaners. marka89
Have you tried cleaning the disc with a lint-free cloth? Do not follow the grooves (in a circle) when you clean discs, but wipe them in straight lines from the inside outwards, and do not use any abrasive cleaners. The disc seems to be crisp, in very good condition, I don't see any scratches or anything and it seemed to work fine on my friends laptop, I will give it a try but I doubt this is the problem. I have a suspicion I will have to buy a new DVD drive even though all other discs are recognized including the Windows 7 Professional I bought the other day. Please can anyone offer a solution before I have to resort to buying new hardware!!
Hickory
It may well be your drive, but it's always best to suspect the disc before the drive. Like anything electrical, always check the connections before you go out buying another drive, though.
