shiloh88
Hey, I have been playing modded FO3 for a while and I think I've fixed most of my general freezing and crashing problems, but now there is one issue that I can't get by. In the past the game has been prone to freezing when loading a new area or interior, but worst case scenario I could just reload and retry entering until it loaded up properly. Now when I try to enter Foggy Bottom metro station I get the same freezing on the load screen but I've tried dozens of times and I just can't get in there. I've done the multicore fix, I've disabled autosave and tried deleting the autosave files, I've run BOSS to get my mod load order, I've done the fallout3.exe exception on my audio drivers, and I've done the large address aware enabler. Any other common sources of freezing/crashing? I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit with quad-core cpu, my load order is: Fallout3.esmAnchorage.esmThePitt.esmBrokenSteel.esmPointLookout.esmZeta.esmCRAFT.esmCALIBR.esmEVE.esmFO3 Wanderers Edition - Main file.esmDCInteriors_ComboEdition.esmRH_IRONSIGHTS.esmCASM.espSprint Mod.espRH_IronSights_Basic_VanillaPlugin.esmRH_IronSights_Basic_AnchoragePlugin.esmRH_IronSights_Basic_PittPlugin.esmRH_IronSights_Basic_BrokenSteelPlugin.esmRH_IronSights_Basic_PointLookoutPlugin.esmRH_IronSights_Basic_ZetaPlugin.esmRH_IronSights_Pitt_NewRifleSights.espRH_IronSights_RemoveReticule.espRH_IronSights_PL_NewItems.espGNR Enhanced.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Anchorage.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC The Pitt.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Broken Steel.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Point Lookout.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Mothership Zeta.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - Alternate Travel.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - Followers Enhanced (BrokenSteel).espFO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional VATS Halftime.espFO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional Restore Tracers.espdD - Enhanced Blood Main.espFellout-pipboylight.espFellout-full.espFellout-Anchorage.espFellout-BrokenSteel.espFellout-PointLookout.espFellout-Zeta.espMergedPatch.esp This is really bumming me out because I've never actually played the game to completion and I was really getting into this playthrough :( Thanks in advance,John
M48A5
Sprint Mod is part of FWE. Alternate Travel has a file extension of .esp but the file header marks it as an .esm. It should be loaded right after FWE - Main file.esm WIth Fellout - full.esp, you do not need the additional DLC plugins. I don't use RHIronsights or EVE, but I believe you need compatibility patches for both of them. You can get one for EVE here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/18173/ Check FOIP for RHIronsights. Edited November 20, 2014 by M48A5
shiloh88
Thanks so much for replying and somehow I never read about the compatibility patches. I'm still having the same problem though, game just freezes up but sound continues anytime I try to load the interiors.

You may also have to start a game, quit, and then redo the multicore tweaks to your FALLOUT.INI file.

Purr4me
Can I still preserve the save game files?Unlikely, but anything is possible with this Frankenstein engine. see, the thinking is and the current facts state, you created the saved game files, sub structures and file paths with in them as well as in the system registry where you had the game installed at, that being the case, The system will be obligatory to not allow them or the code to process as the write permissions were in full force while the data base / saved game was created. But I have in the past been able to break those bonds, but that's me, you are not me.....I can only advise on the facts set before me, the fact was the location is known NOT to allow edits to files.....this game as an editable game, it's a modded game, and the way it works is the data can not be altered too much in that location. I feel your frustration ,please take it as a learning experience. Still, there is a lot more ahead of you to learn about ,and just because you can install this old game, does not mean it will work right ! LOL, oh boy. so many times I made Frisbee from cd's backup's all because the system refused to allow and NOT tell me it was NOT allowed to run. I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit with quad-core cpu, my load order isTo start with ! ?? that's a lot to bite off and chew on if your not familiar with Bethesda made games. Cranky, and very particular too.I for one, would never run any game 32bit on any 64bit platform. It's not like a lot of people have much choice, you just need to be informed things work better when the software is friendly. 64bit is an architecture assembly for processing power, they don't make nor produce games in that format, they don't make nor produce backup mediums in that format, IF and when the industry decides to make plastic DVD's in a udf format 64bit compatible, I might invest in the technology just for giggles. Still, who, what company is going to risk monetary losses over 64bit read write dvd tech ?I see zero value in that, so do they. 64 bit has two operating system installed twice the work load just to facilitate old tech with new, your not going to get away from fat32 ever.this...in a nut shell...is the Quirks involved, the underlying mess your up against ,the Unknown properties that are in front of you. we all deal with it, find out how to make it work, then go about .."working on things".Even IF C:\Games\fallout3 is installed. I advise you to test run that game by it's self with out the DLC's on your sytem first, get in at lest 50 or so hours of game run time before messing with it ,make sure that machine is capable of handling things, before investing a whole lot of time building up a game and be disappointed you can't even run it without ton's of headaches. Jump right in, the waters warm.....and right now. it's very cold outside.Kitty
