Uber unstability

Hi all!

Well, as the topic says I'm currently experiencing heavy FPS drops and stuttering. Sometimes I could make myself a coffee, because it has to... load or something, I don't know for sure. Ok, I always had stuttering ... short intervalls... no problem. But now the game sometimes freezes up to 10 seconds or even more and that is... trust me... a pain in the ass.

I have to say, that I play with HDR and 4xAA, Adaptive AA, 16xTexture Filtering (CCC), but even without those grafic settings it's still stuttering as hell.

I didn't even had such bad performance issues when installing one of those high quality lod mods.

Well my question is, if there is anyway to find out, what mod is actually causing these performance problems... like logging the ressources a mod needs or something like that. Or maybe you see some major conflicts in my load order that could cause that problem... I really don't know what could cause this.

Load order arranged by BOSS.

BSA redirection.

My load order:

  Reveal hidden contents

Any help appreciated, thanks!

I just had a very similar situation. I even totally upgraded the PC, but that did not help AT ALL!

In my case it was Qarl's Textures.

I don't know if you have used any texture replacers, but if you have an easy way to test whether this is indeed the problem is to temporarily remove your ArchiveInvalidation.txt file, or the ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa file.

Again in my case the game popped back to normal immediately (which means back to the default unstability that goes with Oblivion).

Hm it seems, that QTP hasn't been the problem.

When I get into the game, everyhting's just fine, but after some time I really get bad stuttering.

First I though All Natural caused that problem, because my obse.log was filled with script errors, caused by this mod, but then I just deactivate Streamline and it works fine again. No stuttering.

But I still got those bad FPS drops when in exterior area like in the forest or somewhere. :wallbash:

Most of this, depending on the options you have selected, just goes with the territory.

NPC's and Creatures in the game world of Oblivion, including cities and dungeons, are remarkable sparse. This is for a reason. Oblivion simply cannot handl too many NPC's or Creatures; it starts to bog down and stutter, etc.

In my case, I have installed Crowded Cities, and about all the options possible for More Monsters, Higher Spawn Rates, etc. The effect is wonderful; the world is alive.

But, there is always a price.

Oblivion is a 4 year old game and will not take advantage of recent hardware innovations, such as SLI. Believe me, I have tried. I now have a PC Powerful enough to run Oblivion sideways, but can't because Oblivion itself bogs everything down.

So, it is a trade off; do you want FPS, or NPC's?
