kabloogle
Hey, I'm new to the forums but I've been going to tesnexus for a while for mods. Thanks for reading my post! Anyway, I just got a new laptop with windows 7 on it and naturally my first impulse was to install oblivion to check out how well it would run. Well I found a few small problems. The first is that for whatever reason certain items appear solid white, like the blades helmets. And all enchanted weapons like the the umbra sword are white. I think I might just need a special windows 7 patch or something. And the second problem is that I have trouble using omod. It says I can only use it as a limited user or something Idk. Any ideas for either problem? Thanks : )

albonaut
Ok, I run Oblivion on both my computers, which are both running windows 7, and it does take a little tweaking. First off, there's no special windows 7 patch, so don't bother looking. The main thing you need to do is the following: 1. rightclick oblivion.exe and click properties2. click the compatibility tab3. at the bottom, check the box next to Run this program as an administrator4. click Apply and click Ok Now, do this again, but replace Oblivion.exe with OblivionLauncher.exe. And, do it once more, but this time replace Oblivion.exe with OblivionModManager.exe This will for sure get rid of the message from omod saying you are a limited user. I don't know if it will take care of the white weapons though. My friend, when he first got Oblivion, had issues with white weapons. It was on windows XP, but still it might work for you. Make sure that you have the patch 1.2.416. For some reason, he didn't have that patch installed, and not only did it make his weapons white, but a lot of mods didn't work for him. Then I told him to patch his game with the official patch off Bethesda's site, and everything worked great after that!
ArmeniusLOD
Also, right-click the Oblivion folder, click Properties, click the Security tab, click Edit, click Users in the list, and check the box next to Full Control. Apply these settings and run to see if it's fixed.
