What could cause this?

I don't know from this comes from. Maybe you know. I have a few mods. I tested them to see if they crash the game. They didn't. So i started a new game with a new character. It seemed to work just fine. Until i got to the part where i talk to Leliana and she helps me fight Loghain's soldiers in the tavern. After the fight I talk to her, accept her help, but she doesn't appear in the party selection screen. As a matter of fact, i realized Dog doesn't appear either. And i saved him and met him when those dark spawn attacked. I only have Morrigan and Alistair in the team.

Does anybody know what could cause this? If anybody knows please tell me. If it will help I will write you the mods that I have, but i was hopeing somebody knows so I wouldn't write all the mods, as I have over 20 mods.

If you are using the paperdoll, and are shifting thru the available character's inventories, do Leliana and Dog show up there, or are they missing there as well?

:) Then no. They don't appear. I guess they won't appear since they are not in the party selection screen. And one more thing. When i talk to Leliana, she just keeps repeating the same dialog lines when i try to get her to join me. I go through the dialog lines, she says she's join me. then if i click her again, she says the same lines again. I guess something is not triggering. But i don't know what.

Yeah, something is blocking her flags and Dog's as well, from the sounds of it. The ones that set them as joining your group.

Unfortunately, not having ever seen something like this come up before, I'm not sure if its a bad savegame, or if there is a modified file that is causing it. :(

 

1) Its not like this for Alistair or any other party members?

2) Is this your only character? If not, do any of your other characters have a problem like this? If not, I'm betting its a bad savegame. Try some previous saves, and see if they have the same issue.

3) If its a dlc or mod that is causing this, then you're going to have to do a little bit of work.

A) Disable ALL your mods and DLC installations by unchecking them all in the list. This includes Awakening, if you have that as well.

B) Start up your game. It will give you a message about X X and X not being installed, do you still want to run the savegame? Yes. And Yes again. Once it finishes loading go up to the gear icon and create a NEW save, and name it something like Clean Save 1. Then, just to be sure, exit the game completely, then restart it and load up your clean save. Check to see if the issue is still there.

C) If the issue is gone, then a mod/dlc was causing it. What you will want to do is start adding your mods/DLC's back in one at a time and testing the game with each one that you add back in. Eventually, that will tell you which one is causing the problem.

 

My first guess would be Leliana's Song, if you have that DLC. Its just buggy as all hell. Second guess would be mods that affect dialogs.

 

Give those a try, and see if it corrects the problem. Maybe by then I'll have come up with ideas on other potential causes, if that doesnt cure it.

Do you have any mods or overrides that do any modifications to party dialog. Like adding a new NPC or fixing dialog options so that you can repeat romance options or the like. It sounds to me like it's an error with the dialog that is taking place.
