Ok, so in August I decided to try Nexus Mods. I loved it at first, but became more and more difficult to get some of the mods i wanted to try to work. Especially now that i was told the New Vegas Script Extender was a must for some mods.. Now that i have it I cannot validate my local files, it crashes New Vegas as I start it. I have tried deleting NVSE, re-installing my game, and countless other options. So, far no dice. I'm getting irritated. I also must mention. I am new to all of this. so most forums that were probably helpful, are most likely all gibberish to me. I really need help. Fallout 3 and NV are my favorite PC games....and I feel like I have shot myself in the foot.

NVSE only causes issues with pirate copies, also as you've reinstalled and the problem remains I'd suggest the issue is elsewhere. Try deleting the ini files from Documents/My Games/FalloutNV, the game will generate new ones, however you'll have to redo your options.

NVSE is not a mod, it is a script extender - it makes things possible in mods that are NOT possible in the vanilla game. It is made and supported by the team that made script extenders for Oblivion, Fallout3, FalloutNV and Skyrim. They are all very experienced at this. MILLIONS of users have the script extenders and almost no one has problems with them. Every problem I have looked at - EVERY ONE was caused by something else and NOT the script extender. Most often some mod that was installed wrong or conflicted with another one - OR NVSE was installed wrong.

If you remove NVSE, you MUST also remove every mod that depends on NVSE - or your game WILL crash. Mods that require NVSE will not and can not be made to work without it.

New Vegas also has a known bug that neither Beth or Obsidian have ever addressed - it can not run more than about 140 mods without problems. The published limit is 255, but no one that I know of has managed more then about 140 give or take a few - some report the problem with as few as 130 a few claim to have gone a bit over the 140, but not much. My own guess is that Obsidian used some of the mod address space for something - and it would take a major rewrite to fix it now without breaking the game completely.

Well NVSE can't start my clean game.. Using mod organizer so all mods are saved elsewhere...
