AnelaidLives
I know plenty of people who think that men cannot be raped without wanting to be raped, but that's not the point. In a lot of countries, there is a heavy stigma against rape victims, especially more traditional countries. Japan is a good example, minus all the rape jokes, since most go unreported and the burden is on the woman who was raped rather than the man. Its such a problem that women ride on separate train-cars. In the United States, all of the police officers and all of the doctrine I have seen related to criminal justice are understanding of what rape is and the trauma that it causes. Not that there are not those who think otherwise, but I don't imagine it being condoned in any legal sense that the woman brought upon herself unless that is the direction the defense wants to go. As for the original post, the United Nations hasn't done anything to help Africa. Black Hawk Down and Somalia was destabilized by United Nation stupidity, and all of these genocides occur because there is no oversight. There is no civilization in Africa, on the whole, and it is a tribal mindset. I remember reading about Yugoslavia, which is different but its worth noting that the mentality is that rape, destruction of villages, and so on, are facts of life and part of that culture. Its how things are done there. Ethically, its wrong, and cultural relativism be damned, but politically, there is no real way to reverse that mindset. If you look at it, the French Foreign Legion owes most of its success to being just as big of a male without a father as it needs to be to get the job done. Blackjack Pershing pacified the Philippines with methods that would be considered war-crimes today, but he believed that terrorists did not deserve rights since they are in the business of taking rights away and he felt, and was probably right, that terrorists only understand and respect violence. There is no other solution then to show them, with absolute certainty, that it will not be tolerated and that the responses will be immediate and brutal. Don't quote me on Blackjack, since I might get his view wrong, however. I don't think that it is right, by any sense, but that is the world they live in, and being nice isn't going to convince them that they are wrong. Vindekarr
Life purportedly began in Africa. Humanity obviously did not. Actualy you're wrong on that, to be pedantic, Humanity began in the Rift Valley, which extends from north to south, and is a contuinously expanding megafault, this megafualt will in a few thousand or million years, shear off entirely and throw that part of africa into the sea as a newborn island. Humanity DID begin in Africa. And before you make racist comments let me remind you that scum exist in every country, and that wars exist everywhere. I could make a strong argument that virtualy any nation on earth fails to meet the prerequisites to be called "human".
