1Stalker
Heya. Whenever i'm outside and equip a torch, my FPS drops to about half. If i go into a house or dungeon everything is ok, but when going outside again, FPS slows down once more. If i uneqip the torch, frame rate goes to normal again. Another weird thing, is that sometimes, if i'm in 1st person and i have the torch out, the framerate fixes itself after a few moments, but upon changing to 3rd person, it drops again. Another thing i should point out, is that this only happens to MY torch. If i walk past NPC's that carry torches the framerate stays at normal values. So, does anybody know why this happens, or how to fix it? Also note that i'm using savegames from a previous install that got screwed because of some reckless mod tinkering on my part, but i was using pretty much the same mods back then too, and didn't have any problems with the torches. Newer additions are Progress, Ehanced Economy and OMOBS (this one only for the OOO-MMM compatibility). PS: if you spot any other incompatibilities within my mod list please let me know, because i'm not that good with modding yet. I installed and activated them after carefully reading a few mod walkthroughs, and specific mod readme's, but errors may still exist. Cheers! :)
Hickory
A few things come to mind immediately:1. High texture/polygon aremour/body replacers.2. QTP33. Open Cities4. Unique Landscapes5. MMM extra monsters/spawn rates6. WLS7. Brighter Torches All of these combined will have a dramatic effect on FPS, depending on location. Regarding your mods, if yu have full OOO installed, you do not need all of the extra OOO-xxx esps.
1Stalker
I installed the Lite version of OOO, specifically so i can troubleshoot particular plugins and not deactivate the whole mod.I played around with the torches mods myself, but they don't seem to affect the slowdown. As for bigger mods, like QTP3 and UL, i'm not particularily eager to deactivate, because i'm afraid will screw up my game (the reason i had to uninstall Oblivion the first time is because i messed with MMM and UL because of a recurrent crash i kept getting, and it dind't do anything except brake the game completeley). But, as far as i see, the problem is only related to my torch, because other than that (and the few obligatory random crashes  ), the game runs quite well with no other weird slow downs - the ones in major fights or with lots of effects on screen, do not count, because they are expected. Hickory
The torch will effect FPS, particularly if you have high poly/texture surfaces nearby (clothing/skin etc.) and reflections and shadows set to high -- it's always been that way in Oblivion, and the other mods will just add to it. 2+2=12 :whistling:
1Stalker
Yeah, but if that's the case, why don't other NPC's torches affect the frame rate as well? Because if i'm near two guards, both with torches lit, FPS stays well at 30. As soon as i take out my torch, it drops to like 11-12. That's what bugs me: if it was only because of the dynamic lighting, it would have happened with other torches as well, not only when i equip mine. Tried the no flicker tweak as well... still no change. Oh, and it seems to only happen at night. If i use my torch at daytime, frame rate doesn't drop

Hickory
Yes, but you have WLS, so night time in or near towns/cities is going to be very graphic intensive. Obviously I'm not able to physically see what you are describing, so I can only give you my experiences.
1Stalker
Well, i think i'm gonna live with it, i guess... in the end, it doesn't happen all that much, and i know my way around a dark town without having to use the torch (and the WLS actually makes the towns pretty easy to get around, even with Darker Nights). Still, thanks for the advice :)
