Shinmuriel
I heard the Windows LIVE version is bad for modding and all I can find are LIVE versions everywhere I look. Been modding Oblivion for a while and got the Steam edition of that and it was trash and id like to not go through that again tbh. Anyone got a link to a site or a name of the edition I need to purchase thats best for modding? Thanks!

Shinmuriel
Aye, I think the issue i was reading about was that the windows LIVE game of the year edition has the addons/expansions outside of the data file directory or something like that. Should I purchase the base game then buy each addon and plug them in one at a time or is the game of the year edition ok?
evilneko
Only Direct2Drive has any issues with modding, and that only with FOSE.
Shinmuriel
Ok was reading that its necessary to move the DLC to the data directory manually once its downloaded. So I guess my question has now refined itself to... In the Game of the Year Edition can you move the DLC addons into the data folder without any problems? (assuming it is exactly the same setup as the base game when you purchase addons separately) A lot of the mods use FOSE, its kinda important and it says the DLC has to be in the data folders for it to work properly from what im reading. Hmm, says some bsa files and stuff can be found and moved from windows live directories to the Fallout data folder to allow DLC to be played offline, otherwise DLC can only be played online with windows live games. That's the gayest shiet I've ever heard. Im guess those files can be moved safely on the game of the year edition, id just like to get a confirmation on that before i waste $50. Shinmuriel
Lol, the more i read about the windows live DLC the more im rethinking purchasing the game at all. I guess the best way to do it would be to get the base game then try to find non windows live DLC packs. Its just starting to sound like a bunch of BS tbh. I got burnt with the Steam version of Oblivion because I ended up having to play an offline game online to get OBSE to work right most of the time. Don't feel like going through that again. evilneko
It's no problem to move the DLCs to the data directory. That's where they belong anyway as they are pretty much giant mods. the Windows LIVE Disabler utility can do this automatically for you too. Shinmuriel
Hmm, I'll prolly pick a copy up tonight then and see how it goes. Where do I get this Windows LIVE Disabler utility? Or is it built into another mod? Found it, nvm.
KDStudios
Windows Live Disabler? Now I know mine installed that when I first bought it. But after I installed FOMM it doesn't seem to bother the game in any way? ... I could be wrong though... Although I am CERTAIN that I did not disable or remove it as it is still there if I launch the game through the Fallout 3 Launcher...
