Can Someone Assit Me In Making A Mod?

I've never made a mod before. I find the program for it rather confusing. I get the basics but not enough to do anything to advanced. I could sit here for hours and learn how to use it really well, or I could sit here for hours reading tuts to help me. But that gets really boring and I'd end up spacing out and not paying close enough attention to it, thus not learning anything.

 

I want to make a Mod where you can buy Skooma from a dealer in some city. When you take it the colors get all inverted and stuff starts to look at funky for a little bit.

 

Bascially a Mod that makes taking drugs look more like taking drugs.

 

I thought this would be fun and funny and I have a few friends who would like to see it. I said I'd try to make it but after toying around with the program for a but and reading some of the tuts I just don't know. If someone would kindly offer help? You could take it up yourself if you want or just help me assemble it.

 

I'd appricate it very much, thank you to anyone who helps.

I'm fairly sure that while skooma is addictive, it isn't something that would make you start seeing colors. Even if it were, it would be a right pain in the ass trying to add in a shader that affects your vision like that. Compared to the 5-6 seconds of entertainment most reasonably intelligent people would get out of it, it wouldn't be worth it. Then there's the whole "lets take drugs to see things look funny" mentality which is just stupid.

Do we really need more drugged up idiots in this world? Why would you want a mod that encourages this sort of thing? It's about as stupid as some of these "lets kill everyone" kinda mods.

He certainly wasn't telling you to "shut the vulk up". He was simply stating an opinion, if somewhat strongly. It doesn't warrant the long-winded flame post you replied with.

I feel that you should not give criticism if you cannot take it yourself. While I'm sure Switch had his reasons, and I don't want to turn this topic into a flame war, I'm kinda interested in what sort of response you gave. Was it all the senseless, and beligerant, arguing of someone who say, hasn't lost a few close friends because of drug use? Or was it a thought out defense of your idea, explaining exactly why someone should spend the 30+ hours trying to get it to work, provided that it can even be done. Just so mindless children can download it, laugh at it for a few mins, then delete because it doesn't add anything useful. In any case, you obviously felt strongly about your idea without bothering to think first how much effort would need to go into it.

 

Given your description, the closest thing to use as a reference would be the Night Eye effect. This uses a shader to distort the colors. However, since you probably wouldn't want to ruin this effect you'd have to create something similar, and use it as a reference. This means, making a new shader, and trying to figure out how to use that shader to affect vision. This is the hard part. Shaders can be added through scripts, but would only appear on the exterior of what is being affected by that script. Since you can't make new spell effects, and there aren't any other cases where your vision changes based on a script (the blur from being hit, things falling is controlled differently), it would be impossible to get it to work. Even if it were, you'd still have to spend several hours going into and out of the game making changes to the textures and other settings to make it look right. All for something which is useless.

Don't worry man. I am way ahead of you with the drug mod. Check out my post, or wait you already did didnt you?? Oh well I made it so that you can still be skooma from the dealers to, also when you take the drugs it inverts the screen making in all fuzzy and hazy like and i turn the color to blue so it really looks weird. and hurts your eyes!! Yeah for hurting are eyes!!

Wow, that is the most idiotic post i've read in a couple days. People are trying to have fun, so If someone made a drug mod like that, they will go buy some crack and get high? Sorry man, that isn't going to happen.

soildsnake my boy you are right! if we want to make a mod that lets us do drugs in the game who cares?? maybe it will prevent people from even thinking about doing drugs anyways!! people are so short minded I have been working on my drug mod for at least 2 straight weeks now and V0.1 should be comeing out soon.
