Avernus research

Greetings to everyone

I have been reading this forum for while as a guess but now I decided to register and share my thoughts about the plot with you.

I recently finished a new DAO campaing with all the DLC included and this time I decided to forgive Avernus and let him continue his research of the taint but in an ethical way. Did any of you consider this a major decision or not?

To me this a potential decision for DLC expansions. If Avernus continued his studies regarding the Taint, he could be the one that discovers a partial cure for the fertility problem of the Grey Wardens, considering what David Gaider said about requiring magical help for the deed and for me it wouldn´t be a crazy explanation for it.

I am sorry for any grammatical mistake, im not a native speaker =P

Great idea! As with any (good) epic, DA has many, many events and charaters about whom we want to know more! Googling "Dragon Age - FanFic(tion)" generated over 200,000 results. I too think Avernus and his research would make great DLC material. (I always take advantage of, and let him continue it. ) So would more of Zevran's adventures (pre-, or post-Blight. ) So would a number of other tiny pieces of which we only get a glimpse, (Anyone else want to sign-on for Isabela's Voyage?!)

For me, it's all about the story. Yes, I need/want fantastic visuals, good music, and all of that. But for a great story I'll put up with weaknesses in those. I'll even put up with weaknesses in the basic programming itself. Look how much time I've invested in trying to isolate and overcome the bugs in DA!) But I loved, LS, it's my favorite DLC since TSP, and am eagerly anticipating the release of WH. Don't own GoA yet, but from what I've heard, ("...just a dungeon crawl...") it doesn't really appeal. (And I don't even like to acknowledge the existence of "The DLC That Must Not Be Named". :P It just doesn't "fit with the Story" as I have come to hold it in my mind. )

The Story Rules!

It sounds like a good idea but what about all those people who don't have the DLCs? I'm not shooting down the idea (It's a great idea), I'm stating that I don't have the resources to buy them and to play them out and there are plenty of people who are in my situation. Unless BioWare decides to give the last three DLCs for DA2, then really it is just a shot in the dark.

It depends on how you are playing the character. Sometimes I let him do ethical research, sometimes I kill him on the spot. It all depends on how I perceive the character I am trying to be. As for it being a major decision, in a storyline sense it is, in the cold hard face of reality it is meaningless as it has no effect at all on anything other than your perception of character.

As far as it affecting any DLC's or expansions, your guess is as good as any but if they plan on using it they are being closed mouthed about it.

What brokenergy said first brought that one chaos theory viewpoint to mind, the butterfly effect.

It also reminds me of one of the little messages that tosses up in Awakening.

If the Warden spares Alec and orders him to join the army, then he will become one of the great heroes of the next age, a sheepherder-turned-soldier by the name of Ser Alec the Valiant, who eventually founded an order of knights that lasted a thousand years.

One little insignificant decision that will alter everything afterward. The possible inclinations of Avernus' research could be hugely significant. Almost as insignificant as say.. Having a child with Morrigan ;)
