Morrowind Definitive Edition Project

This is a project that I am working on (See Below) The keystone of this project is to keep everything lore accurate, or at least accurate enough to be plausible. I have found a number of mods that offer a good bit of content that is useful but the lore factor is in question.

 

I guess if nothing else the help of some scholarly types would be of great help to me in this. I could just do all of this for myself, but I want to make this project a lasting impact on the community. If there is anyone interested in this kind of thing let me know.

This is something I have been working on for a good little while now.

The core goal of this project is to fill in all the various blanks and enhance the vanilla game as much as possible while still maintaining valid Lore and the general atmosphere that the vanilla game provides. Mods such as Morrowind Rebirth, and Tamriel Rebuilt are mods that I consider fundamental to the project. These two mods together overhaul the game adding in dense rich lore correct/friendly content all over the map and beyond. Rebirth Expands all settlements and adds a number of others on the island of Vvardenfell making the world feel more real, alive, and truly lived in. Where as Rebuilt does essentially the same thing but beyond Vvardenfell. The Tamriel Rebuilt team is constructing the entire province of Morrowind out to its farthest boarders. These two examples are the bedrock of this project firstly because they are made to be lore correct/friendly and secondly because they are so expansive covering virtually all land mass in the game world.

The end result that I am looking for is a list of all mods out of the sea of mods that fit into this narrow gap accumulated and patched together to work with as few conflicts as possible. With this list completed the end game is OpenMW which will allow modding to reach areas of functionality that it has never had before. All the mods collected can then be taken, broken down, and reconstructed to work together seamlessly. The biggest problems with Morrowind modding in the past, is that there was so many technical limitations. These limitations will be removed allowing everything to be fleshed out to its true potential.

I can realistically foresee this project succeeding. I can foresee the great role playing opportunities offered to the player by adding new quests and factions to the game. Creating new skills, Items and features allowing the player to create and customize characters that operate as they want them to. I foresee the graphics being wildly enhanced taking a dingy looking relic and making it look and feel like a totally new world. I can foresee much more dynamic and radiant AI eliminating that monotonous boring scripted behaviors of NPCs and creatures allowing them to behave in ways that have never been seen before. As far as im concerned reach for the stars... OpenMW offers the chance to use modern technology on an old system that does not require nearly as much demand as newer titles.

Very realistically, the Morrowind that we have all always wanted can be done... So whos with me?
