Losse
I played through DA:O once last year and am getting rdy to do it again i think. Then all the DLC and awakening. Can anyone tell me, if i mod with the da mod program developed last year (looks like it never went past beta?), will i have any problems with installing/transferring chars to awakening? Oh also, do they cause any problems with interaction between the game and biowares online info? Like achieves and stuff. Can i run the regular DAO loader and the DAMOD loader alternately without problems? I am mainly lookin at the mod that changes peoples faces for the better and the one that lets me press TAB down all the time without actually doing it. So annoying having to jam a dime into my tab key. I posted a similar question over on bioware forums and got no response so figured id try here. I guess it could be sort of a grey area? I posted a similar question over on bioware forums and got no response so figured id try here. I guess it could be sort of a grey area? Not a grey area morally, only technically. Some mods work, some mods work with tweaks, some mods don't. One of the beauties of (almost all) mods for this type of game is, if they don't work or if they break something else, just delete them. They won't actually "break" the game. Since you don't specify which "da mod program developed last year" you're talking about, no one will be able to tell you whether it, specifically, is compatible with DA:A, but in general: the Toolset is, the vanilla game file structure isn't. Facemorphs have been particularly difficult to manage. So when you ask about "problems with installing/transferring chars to awakening", if you mean "Will my Warden import correctly even if I've buffed him/her beyond belief?" Yes. If you mean "Will my imported Warden have the full-body tatoos and animated snake hair that I manged to get working in DA:O?", or "Will my +100 Ginsu Blade of Can & Darkspawn Slicing be in my inventory?" ummmm... no. But there are some positive indicators on both fronts. (Most of?) The "official" DA:O DLC bonus items can be made to work in DA:A using: "DLC in Awakenings Fix" on Nexus And Veteran Gamer, a poster right here on these Forums, has done some great work on examining and publishing the DA:A file structure to allow modders to build stuff that works. LancelotLoire
Well for the faces mod if you want a change done to any of the DLC or to Awakening it has to actually be a totally different file name. For example... hf_lel000_leliana.mor modifies Leliana's looks within Leliana Songhf_genfl_leliana.mor modifies Leliana's looks within DA:O There may be more of these however my main override folder where these are kept currently has 785 files/folders. Now as far as modded items and the like go if your character is wielding them. Then it's all down to the skills of the modder in question whose mod you use or if you manage to mod it to work yourself. For example at the very start of Dragon Age Awakening (Loaded from an Origins) my warden was wearing full Runic Armor. However the sword I used for the majority of DA:O the Frostmourn wasn't wielded. However it was in my inventory because the modder who did that released in Awakening version.
Losse
Thanks all. Probably one of the problems here is i have never modded the game so im a total noob and dont even know what im asking :) The beta program i was talking about is DAModder Should i use it or is there a better mod manager? LancelotLoire
I would recommend DAO-Modmanager Although I personally only have it because of one annoying mod that came in a format that pretty much required it's use.
RustyBlade
"Will my +100 Ginsu Blade of Can & Darkspawn Slicing be in my inventory?" ummmm... no. Actually Thandal, that one is a definite maybe. Some will, some won't; things in override almost always work, dazips will usually work but require some "file fiddling." In fact I have yet to find a weapon/armor mod that I was not able to get working in AW. I have also had no issue with tattoos but I only use the face tats, not the full body ones. Gameplay altering mods are a whole different nightmare though.

But out-of-the-box, I've seen more complaints about custom (and even DLC) items not appearing in DA:A than anything else, (followed by the broken NPC Companion Quests! ) And it seems that the more "custom" the item, the less likely it is to work. Yeah, I guess it's like that all origins playable mod; you can throw the lore away and use it or you can do it the hard way and do it right without it. Only way I have found to have a Cousland elf recognized as a Cousland was a manual procedure; all others recognize me as anything but. That dialogue with Cailan where he asks me if I am from Redcliffe really gives me a case of the red a**.
