portylad4
Heya! Sooo, I just recently noticed that the Blades Armor, Brusef Amellions Ceremonial Armor, and the Ebony armor is displaying some parts of the set in jet black. (By the way, i'm using Slofs sexified armor mods) I tried the few things that I thought might fix it, I reinstalled the texture+mesh files from the files that I re-downloaded, and that didn't fix it. I reinstalled Roberts V5 (I was using Natural Males, which uses Roberts bodies but is more realistic and masculine, but the armor was fine after I installed it anyway...) And that didn't do anything to fix it either. I also tried disabling all of my mods that had ESP's/ESM's, to no avail. I searched these forums and apparently that can be caused by missing .dds files, or missing _g or _n files or something like that, but the blades armor, and the ebony/brusef amellions armor didn;t have them in the files I re-downloaded, but as far as i'm aware they worked anyway. I can give my mod list, and texture/mesh replacer list if that would be helpful. I'll put it if someone needs it, but it's quite long, so bear with me. Cheers,Hugh. DavidBudreck
Jet black stuff typially is caused by missing or messed up "Normal Maps." These are texture files that have the same base name as the textures they map; they end in "_n.dds". So a texture "Armor.dds" would have an accompanying "Armor_n.dds". However, I still have a suit of Jet Black armor that nobody has been able to tell me how to fix. It looks fine in Nifscope, definitely not jet black. However, in-game it is jet black. Everybody's first suggestion was "Missing Normal Map." But it is not missing, and if Nifscope can see it and use it properly to render non-black armor, then why can't the game? You can try checking to see whether your textures have their necessary "_n.dds" normal maps. However, not all textures need them, further complicating things. But, occasionally, from what I understand, finding your missing normal maps, if that is the problem, will solve it.
Malarwyn
Hmm. I've gotten this problem a few times as well, I was able to replace the _n.dds files on all those occasions, so I don't know what you're experiencing. But I use a whole load of Slofs Mods as well, and I just checked my blades folder for her sexified armor, and it didn't have any _n.dds files, so I guess this must not have anything to do with the _n.dds files.
