Eshenaleros
Aren is my Half-dragon. He runs around without any armor on because of the Galerion unarmored mod, and fights with his fists thanks to a mod that increases the damage of hand to hand. What I actually do with him is everything. I talk to people, leap headfirst into random encounters with nothing but my pants on, and he is the Divine Avenger because it's the only questline I've bothered myself enough to complete - everything else he hasn't even started yet. I've been busy with sidequests and exploring everything I come across. Almost got my butt handed to my a Balrog though; Damn, the steed birthsign really makes you run like hell. So far he's entirely altruistic, always being empathetic and helping others in every way he can, though he's gotten himself nearly killed a few times for it. I'm thinking of Going and doing the Gates to Aesgaard quests soon, but I'm currently helping rescue a young argonian girl in Hackdirt and, on the issue of dead threads... http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b283/pyranack/Necro.jpg
roquefort
@rougefort its threads like this that draw the community together to chat so it doesnt matter if its 3 years old XD Yeah fair enough ;) However it did start as a specific query back then. Loved the thread necromancy pic. It was worth reanimating it just for that :D EDIT: Since we're discussing playing styles, I tend to avoid night travel and run time a lot slower than vanilla, but faster than real time (which would be crazy). I have the Clocks mod so if I use vanilla time they'll look stupid with the hands whizzing around. I play a good guy in a semi-roleplay way, sleeping at night and mostly avoiding fast travel, stopping to rest in camps. I have the passive beasts mod as I hate to have to kill the wildlife (being a good guy). I killed Lucien Lachance and stole his robe & hood, which give good sneak-power (accidentally did a murder early on which is why he appeared, in my private tent no less -- the male without a father). I use a couple of companions, Viconia & Julienne. I've got the unicorn but don't use him much (can't fight on horseback).
Skolhamarr
because to the Elder Council, Fort Akatosh, Guards of Cyrodiil, Kvatch aftermath and other DC mods with quest. I am a legionnaire, Duke of Colovia, I either protect County Kvatch or I patrol the roads of Cyrodill. So most of the time fast travel isnt an option. Doing the good deeds, talking with NPC blah blah blah....
David Brasher
These are sort of hard questions to answer. I use the default day length, which does seem to fly by rather quickly. My characters have lots and lots of energy and rarely sleep (except for my vampire who spends half his time sleeping.) My characters go and go and go until it is time to level up or they need to wait for the appointment time with some NPC or other. Then they crash out for eight to ten hours. They might even get a double level-up. One of my characters is a barbarian who hates cities. He always sleeps in wilderness camps and avoids going to shops. He has piles of loot sitting around unsold. My vampire doesn't visit shops much (unless he is robbing them by night.) He sells lots of ingredients and potions at the all-night taverns. Fast travel in Oblivion is an abomination. I mostly use it when playtesting mods, when or I need to hurry and go to bed so I can get up in the morning. My characters therefore spend lots of time on the roads and running cross-country. My characters generally don't ride horses or buy houses. They often pile their junk that is too cool to sell in the Mage Guild or Fighter's Guild. They never belong to the Thieves Guild, the Dark Brotherhood, or the Arena. (Maybe sometime some of them will.) My characters all tend to be magic-users and alchemists. When they visit a city, they always visit the blacksmith and the alchemist. My characters go all over the map. They probably don't go to Anvil, Leyawiin, and Cheydinhal as often as other places. I find that I don't often get over by the Valus Mountains and Lake Canulus, or in the Imperial Reserve. One of my characters lives in Bravil though, and goes to Leyawiin and the Shivering Isles often. I don't usually complete the main quest. I go become the Hero of Kvatch, escort Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple, and then leave the Blades to their own devices. (Those fools never do seem to solve the Oblivion crisis.) I do this so Oblivion gates will start opening. My characters like to feel heroic closing Oblivion gates one by one. They especially feel the need to close the ones by the roads they travel and the towns they frequent. If I have a long evening to play, I like to close an Oblivion gate, explore a cave or mine, explore a fort, and explore an Ayleid ruin. I find Oblivion to be severely lacking in factions and quests for characters with good alignments, so most of my time is just spent exploring and raiding instead of doing quests. I don't know if this was the right information or useful information, but those are my play-habits.
David Brasher
Oops. I just realized I responded to a three-year old question. Oh well. It is fun to read about how other people like to play Oblivion.
cagedcrado
This topic is very interesting though, it is amazing how virtually everyone who replied does something different. My characters are usually jack of all trades like characters, they fight with weapons, stealth and magic and it is awesome that the oblivion system lets you do all of them at once. I spend most of my time at the imperial city if I am not out and my character only goes into caves if there is a quest related reason, although maybe she will start. My character is head of the mages guild and had a sex change using her arcane power to avoid public scrutiny from being part of the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood. (I bet not many other people's characters have had sex changes :D )
Birrii
I go to bed usually at 12 pm or later, sometimes a bit earlier. Then I, eventually, wake up. If I'm going on a quest, then it's 6 o'clock or 5. If I'm just doing whatever I want, then I get up at 9-11 am. I take a bath (yes, I have the bathing-mod), and then dress up (if city quest like thieves-guild; elegant dress or robe, if fighting quest: light armor), but if it just "free-time" -time, then just a dress. Then I eat breakfast, and then go. I won't tell what I do in quests, because it's obvious: I take my horse and go where I need to go. I usually pray at the chapel, maybe walk around the city I'm in and buy clothes, buy food, talk to people, take a drink, ride my horse, travel to another city and stay there, steal something and find someone who buys it (mohahahh! >:) ), work a bit in the field, read some books, make some potions et cetera. But at 6 o'clock (pm) I go home and eat dinner (if lI'm travelling and arrive later than 6, then I go to the table straight away and eat). Then I try on the clothes that I have bought (if I bought anything at all) or sit by the fire, drink some wine, and go to bed. But if there's a quest, then I'm a bit more irregular with my daily planning. But going to bed, taking a bath, change clothes, eat, eat dinner and sit by the fire is NEVER to be questioned, because I always do that. If I'm Skingrad (where I usually am), and need to go to Azura's Shrine, I ride to the Imperial city, then take a rest there, the next day to the next city until it only takes one hour or something to get o Azura's Shrine. These are my playing habits, I hope they'll inspire or/and help you :3 Hope it helps, Birrii
